281.0. "Another Stakeout" by RNDHSE::WALL (Show me, don't tell me) Mon Aug 02 1993 13:48

Capsule Review: If you didn't like the first one, you aren't going to
like this one. Any price you didn't mind paying for the first one will
not be money wasted on this.

Another Stakeout has a lot in common with its predecessor. Aside from
the obvious return of the principals, played by Richard Dreyfuss and
Emilio Estevez, it's basically the same kind of story, with the same
simple rapport between Dreyfuss and Estevez. Surveillance is required,
and keeping tabs on people is not as simple as it would first appear to
    be.

One need not have seen the first movie to enjoy the second -- the story
stands very well on its own, although people who haven't seen the first
one (Stakeout) may wonder about the significance of the small part of
    Madelaine Stowe.

This is not a deep, psychological thriller -- it borrows a bit or two
from slapstick. The ending is slightly fuzzy -- there's a point that
has to be stretched to make it all work. But it's a pretty
    straightforward story otherwise.

Some violence, a nasty word or two, no flesh (unless you count Rosie
O'Donnell's bathtub scene). An amusing dog.

Probably three stars out of four if you like this type of thing. If
you aren't sure, see the video of Stakeout first, which will certainly
be cheaper than any theater price.
