247.0. "Leap Of Faith" by 12368::michaud (Jeff Michaud, DECnet/OSI) Thu Jul 08 1993 19:10

This one stars Steve Martin and Debra Winger, and a small part
	by Meatloaf.

Martin plays a con-man (aren't they all :-) faith healer, and
Winger plays his behind the scenes partner. One of the trucks
breaks down on the highway so they pull off and stop in this
small mid-western town where it will take four days to get
the part in for the truck. So they decide to setup their
con (show) in this town. Winger starts falling for the local
sheriff and Martin hits on the waitress in the diner.

I must say I was entertained. The first three quarters of the
film were exciting and interesting. The last part changed pace
by mellowing out but was ok.

Yes, it is out on video I caught it last weekend. I was surprised on
how much I liked it. It was really neat to see how big time revival
preachers do there thing. If your into gospel music this is a must see
or at least pick up the CD. The music was excellent and I'm not into
that type of music, you just couldn't help but tape your feet.

I saw this (on tape) over the weekend. Very entertaining, though I'm
not really pleased with the way it turned out -- too sappy.

I got this out on tape on Saturday night. The sort of role that Steve
Martin excels in, the almost hyper-active character. Worthwhile
viewing. The ending was a little lame, but I wouldn't say it lowered
the standard of the film at all.

I liked this a lot when I saw it in the theater last year. I agree
that Steve Martin is great in this type of role. I thought it was a
lot of fun, and I actually even liked the ending.

I too liked the movie. I liked the ending as well(mainly due to how
Steve Marin's character re-acted to the events)

Check out the soundtrack - Don Henly's 'Sit Down, You're Rockin
the Boat' is excellent, along with the gospel stuff, Lyle Lovett,
and Meatloaf - makes for a great CD.
