231.0. "Class Action - Gene Hackman" by 28336::BALSAMO () Fri Jun 25 1993 14:39

This movie stars Gene Hackman and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. Gene
plays a Lawyer defending the "little guy" against corporate giants. In
this case he is representing the claims of people in a Class Action suit
who had been in car accidents due to negligence involving the automaker's
car design which causes the cars to blow up when hit from behind while the
   left turn signal is on.

MEM also plays a corporate lawyer on the side of the automaker in this
class action suit. The twist is that Gene and MEM are father and daughter
in this movie. The movie explores their family relationship and how it
plays into the class action suit.

I'm a Gene Hackman fan to begin with and I though that he did his usual
excellent acting job. MEM was also excellent and believable. I'd give it a
   ***/****.

   Regards,
   Tony Balsamo

This was a good movie. Definitely 3 or 4 stars and my expectations were
very low, but it suprised me.

On the other hand, as far as court room movies go, I like The Verdict
better, but this is a close second.

I am also a Hackman fan as well as a mastroantonio fan. I really
enjoyed this film and found it to be a good likeness of how corporate
legal decisions are likely to be made and fought.

I liked the relationship stuff as well, added some flavor to things.

I like courtroom dramas, especially the cross-examination stuff. I
love to watch people drawn out from behind their protective screens and
slowly forced to abandon the lies they have told to protect themselves.
