28.0. "Saturday night at the movies" by 29067::K_BOUCHARD () Mon Feb 08 1993 17:19

    We have been watching rented movies (blockbuster) every Sat. night for
    several years. Usually,action type movies with martial arts. (the whole
    family likes them) Most have been ok but this last one called
    "Bloodmatch" deserves it's own review: It stunk! This movie wasn't
    released,it ESCAPED from HBO. Never before have we actually started
    rewinding a tape before the movie was done. This now replaces "Ninja
    mission" as the worst movie ever played on my VCR.(in that one,one
    ninja shoots the other with a machine gun in the one and only action
    scene in the film)

    Ken sounds like Saturday night at my place. We've also opted for a few
    rentals lots of popcorn and soda. Fridays we go out but Saturdays we
    keep Blockbuster in business.

    Editorial on Blockbuster - I wish they epuld expand their "Classics"
    and run more specials - like discounts for 1 day turn around and stuff
    like that - I do appreciate their new $2.50 for new releases for the
    first 2 weeks though.

    One of the great things about a $3.00 rental - when you rent a looser
    like "Bloodmatch" you don't feel so bad cause instead of spending
    $14.00 - $15.00 to see it in a theater you only 'lost' $3.00 :^}

    One thing about Blockbuster which I don't like at all is the fact that
    each and every BB store is really a stand-alone operation with minimal
    contact to other BB stores (they probably have *some* since they seem
    to have a network) Every BB seems to have it's own choice of movies,
    (you'd think they would at least have some sort of standard selection)
    it's own store layout (general movie topics are in different spots in
    different stores) and renting from one store when your card was gotten
    from another is a real hassle. But despite the drawbacks,like you said
    it only cost $3 to find out "Bloodmatch" is a terrible movie. Not bad!

    Last Saturday night we rented "At Play in the Field of the Lords." Near
    the end of the second tape, the VCR tape ate the tape. The store was
    kind enough not to charge us for the damage, but they did not have
    another copy, and the owner and none of our friends could tell us how
    it ended... Could someone please tell us how it ended? There was
    approximately 15 minutes left when the VCR ate it.

    Thanks!
