2137.0. "PWSOCK32.DLL on Oracle RDB7 Client for WIN95" by NOMAHS::JPINTO () Mon Feb 10 1997 09:19

Please correct me, if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the "Oracle RDB7 Client for
WIN95" CD-ROM supply a PWSOCK32.DLL? Is this a misunderstanding of mine (of the
"Oracle SQL/Services Release Notes - Release 7.0", that says, in page 3-11, "The
pwsock32.dll supplied on your CD-ROM has the correct routine necessary to run
DECnet as a transport for the Microsoft Windows 95 operating system. Copy from
your Oracle CD-ROM pwsock32.dll into your PATHWORKS directory."), or an error in
the doc?

Thanks in advance

2137.1normally comes with PathworksM5::JBALOGHMon Feb 10 1997 11:038
    I don't know what the doc says but PWSOCK32.DLL normally comes with DEC
    Pathworks. There have been a couple of issues where you need the latest
    version of this file to run ODBC with DECNET.

    Is it there? If not, you should call DEC support and get the most
    recent version of this file...

2137.2We shipped it for field test onlySQLSRV::MAVRISSue Mavris - smavris@us.oracle.comMon Feb 10 1997 12:5221
Hi Paulo,

I think you're looking at field test release notes. For field test, we did
ship this DLL. However, John is correct. This DLL is part of Pathworks and
we didn't/couldn't ship it with our final 7.0 release. Here's what the final
7.0 release notes say:

            ________________________ Note ________________________

             An additional patch is required to the PATHWORKS
             V1.0A kit. Call the Customer Support Center at Digital
             Equipment Corporation to obtain this patch. The Oracle
             ODBC Driver for Rdb will return the following error
             SQLSRV_DLL_ADDR_ERR (-2046). This means pwsock32.dll,
             a PATHWORKS dynamic link library, is missing a
             required routine. The name of the missing PATHWORKS
             routine is called SktEndNodeEnt.
