I just tried to open two Xsessions (CDE) against two different AXPs (VMS). After
I opend the first session, I verified that the security in the first CDE front
panel is open (because it "overwrites" the security of the VXTs Terminal
Manager) and tried to start the second, which did never appear...
I then loged into this second system and did:
$SET DISP/CREAT/NODE=.../TRANS=...
$RUN DTSESSION
With the $SET WATCH FILE/CLASS=MAJOR I saw that it had access to the file
ERRORLOG., exited and returned to the prompt.
The ERRORLOG. says:
Tue May 13 15:26:00 1997
dtsession: Another dtsession is currently running - exiting.
So I think this is clear enough :-) btw. I love VMS cause of the clear commands
and error messages...:-)
Som thoughts:
With the "old" DECwindows Motif (Sesssion Manager) it was possible to have two
Xsessions. I think the explanation is that CDE is not just an apllication like
Session Manager, CDE manages the whole environment, like for example the four
virtual screens you have be default...how would "you" manage two different CDE
front panels where each of it has four virtual screens...?
