853.0. "Chicken Chicks?" by CUPMK::COMPTON () Tue Mar 29 1994 14:47

    Hi Folks,

Anybody know how to get young chicken hatchlings to be raised as
a family/neighborhood project, handled gently by young children
to keep them tame, that kind of thing.... A co-worker not familiar
with our notes conference asked me about this, so thought I'd give
the question a try here. He wants to get ten young chicks this
    Spring.

    Thanks...

    Hi Linda,

Chicks usually have to be bought in batches of 25; that's the
smallest number the hatcheries sell as that's the minimum amount of
"bodies" to keep warm during shipping (in the mail, no less ;^) !).

We are placing an order this weekend, so if your friend wants 10
we can include them in our order ... does he/she have a brooder or
would they want us to brood for six weeks?

Reply here or in mail, whichever you'd prefer ...

    Hi Andrea,

I'll see my friend this afternoon and check with him. He's a Digital
employee also, so I'll copy your mail to his account and have him
    start a dialogue directly.

    Thanks very much!
