Hello.
I have some frends who have 2 cockatiels, a sun conure, and a senegal
parrot.
They wondered if it was harmful for cockatiels to eat banana peelings.
Their 'tiels love to chew on the banana peels rather than eat the
banana.

Hi
I believe banana peels would be bad for birds. When I was younger
I used to get to tour the grocery store warehouse where my father was
an accountant. One of the highlights of these tours were the "banana
rooms". In these "vauts" were tons of green bananas...we would only be
allowed in one of them each time as the others were locked because some
type of poisonous gas was being used in them. There were lots of
warning signs posted in the area about the gas and not to open certain
vaults where the gas was being used at the time. I don't know if all
grocery stores use this and it was a long time ago...but I would not
give my birds banana peels just to be on the safe side.

Hi,
I would also NOT recommend that you feed any bird banana peels.
All bananas are imported from counties that have little or no
restrictions on petsicides, the peels must have consentrated amounts
of the stuff. It can't be healthy for anyone. JUst stick to the
insides.
