469.0. "Show Cockateil?" by TJT01::ARMITAGE () Wed Dec 12 1990 19:09

I'd like to show my cockateil Tequila. She is show quality so the
breeder said. I was wonder what a show cage is and how I would go
about finding out when the next show is, how to keep her tail out of
the water dish, how to register for the show, etc. I was told that
Tequila is a female cinnamon pied. Is that correct? Any help is
appreciated. I did read the previous file note about bird show
pointers but I'd like more info. Does anyone have old registration
forms or old regulations just for a reference.

    Lisa,

I will check to see if I kept my last two show bulletins for BOAF.
(I believe that I did). I recall one of the bulletins had all of
the specifics on how the cockatiels were judged. If I do have it
I will send it out to you. I'll let you know.

Cinnamon Pieds are beautiful birds! I believe that Linda Compton
has a back note on tips that the Cockatiel Judge gave at the NHAS
Bird Show. That must be the note that you read.

    Regards,
    Denise

    Denise,
Did you find the bulletin? I'm so excited to start showing! I used to
love showing horses but somehow I think this is a little different.
Imagine trying to put a cockateil under saddle. Oh, I made a mistake.
Tequila is a pearl cinnamon. OOPS! I feel like such a novice. Maybe
    that's because I am.

Hi, here is the name of a contact in Sudbury, MA who may be able
to answer your questions. I met her at a show.

    Patricia E. Tucker
    (508)443-5218

She owns the Feathering Crest Aviary and has a long line of show
credits including a best cockatiel at the New Hampshire Avicultural
society show just last year. She has successfully bred an all
black cockatiel, no orange cheeks or yellow crest.
