Having just completed a major construction project (my husband actually did all the work) of building a nesting box for my two "rather active" peach-faced lovebirds, I was wondering if anyone could provide advice as to the best way to attach the box to the cage. I'd like to minimize the damage to the cage so I'm wondering if anyone could provide advice as to the best way to attach the cage. If we remove a portion of the bars (four of them) is there any way to reclose the bars after the box is taken off? How can we minimize the risk associated with the sharp ends of the bars? Thanks for any advice you can provide. Nance

Is this a welded wire cage? if it is the best way so far for me has been to attach 2 cup hooks to the top, place the box so that the nest hole lines up with the hole cut into the cage. I line the hole with plastic edgeing, but I do not have birds that eat plastic so you may try some metal flashing around the edge. also I set up a door with cage clips that can be closed and wired shut. | |||||

Hi MRS. B, Note 789 talks about an auction this Saturday, where you can probably pick up a next box for around $4-6. Also I beleive my club is having an auction next Wednesday, I will post the detail tomorrow. If you can't make these Auctions or are set on having your father in law build it, I could loan you the one I have to have him copy. Drop me a Email note if you want to borrow it. Doug |
