197.0. "Sit on a bird?" by CDROM::EBERT () Fri Jun 16 1989 21:59

    Isn't it tough to find someone reliable to birdsit for those summer
    weekend trips? My long-time birdsitter has moved to California and
    I'm looking (no luck so far) for someone new.

    Anybody in the Chelmsford, Littleton, Nashua area have a
    recommendation? I have a Red Lored Amazon who is very tame (with me)
    and likes females. I have avoided pet shops due to the problem of
    disease.

    	Thanks for any ideas ..........

197.1A sitter for your needs!FASTER::DESILETSMon Jun 19 1989 16:448
    There is a woman that I know of who "animal-sits" full time in the
    Bolton area. She presently works with me part-time at the Fish
    Nook Pet Center in Acton. I know that she has reasonable prices
    because she is going to bird sit for me for two weeks. I agree
    with you on not letting your red lored stay at a pet store. Even
    though the store may be clean, you never know when a bird could
    either come in sick or contract something. If you need more
    information just give me a call at DTN 297-4772 and ask for Steve!
197.2Critter Camp!FASTER::DESILETSThu Jun 29 1989 16:0811
    For those of you who are interested, I have gotten the business
    card from the person who animal-sits full time. Her name is Betsy
    Ulin and is the proud owner of "Critter Camp" This camp is the
    kennel alternative to providing 24 hour love and care for your pet.
    I am going to have her birdsit my tiel while I'm away for two weeks
    and will let you know my feelings. If anyone would like more specifics
    the number is 508-779-5405 in the Bolton area.

    Hope this is of some help!

197.3Sitter in Hudson MAANT::MPCMAILWed Jul 05 1989 18:359
     Let me ask my boyfriend if I can short term sit birds,
    We have four at home beebee parrot, cocktiel, cocktoo and the yellow
    nape amazon, who keeps us in laughs. also we have a vast abundance
    of wildlife outside our kitchen, I know the 1st week in Aug is out
    for me, due to me going away on vaction. His dad takes care of the
    birds, they like him and he is right upstairs if anything should
    happen, he's right there.

197.4A second vote for Critter CampTIDES::WOLOCHOWICZNANCEThu Jul 13 1989 16:0823
    Re: .2 Hi Steve!!

    Steve gave me Betsy's name when I was frantically looking for a
    "sitter" for my two peach-faced lovebirds. I dropped off the birds
    at the "Critter Camp, as I wanted to see what type of environment
    my pets would be in for the two weeks I was away. (She has a pick-up
    service - BTW).
    What I saw were cages filled with parakeets, cockateils and an
    assortment of other birds including baby cockateils that Betsy was
    hand feeding. The place was alittle noisy as she also takes care
    of dogs and cats. (They are kept in seperate rooms).
    She seemed *very* knowledgable about bird care but more importantly
    she seemed to really love taking care of birds.
    She cleaned the cage every day and took good care of the birds.
    When I picked them up they were full of energy and probably sad
    to leave all their new-found bird-buddies.
    I'll give this lady a positive recommendation as someone very
    knowledgable and competent in the care and feeding of birds.

    Nance

    Thanks again for the recommendation, Steve!
