133.0. "Breeder recommendations" by FRAGLE::GUILBAULT (Penguin in Bondage) Wed Mar 01 1989 14:36

I was reffered to a couple of breeders in the Northern MA area.

After talking with them I found that two of them have the bird

that I'm looking for (Lutino cockie).

Does anyone know of a Maxine Turnell in Pepperell or someone

named Donna (XXXX) at 76 Perry Ave in Lawrence ? I am going to

see birds at both of these places on Saturday and would appreciate

    any info about these people.

                                     Thanks

I am not familiar with the two people that you mentioned but if
a Lutino Cockatiel is your preference I know a breeder that has
wonderful babies that are hand fed. I recently purchased a Lutino
to add to my collection and I am very happy with the quality and
health of the bird. The person's name is Janice Delvechio and
she works out of her house. She is located in Marlboro Ma. and
her number is(508) 481-6594. She and her husband have a very good
selection on birds and they are very well cared for.

133.2a problem with misrepresentation...THRUST::RUZICHPurity Of EssenceMon Mar 06 1989 14:4617
Delvechios's birds are well-cared for. They are very nice people, they
obviously are quite fond of the birds, and my wife and I enjoyed talking
to them and seeing the collection when we bought two cockatiels about 6
    weeks ago.

However, I would strongly caution "buyer beware".

I will send you mail about my experience, so that the moderators don't
    get worried about slander.

I admit we should have been smart enough not to take anyone's word as
truth when buying birds (but they seemed like such nice people...).
Maybe the problem is that the vision of dollar signs affects a seller's
    ethics.

I purchased my lutino this weekend from Maxine Tornell in Pepperell.
The bird is 8 weeks old and is hand tamed. I have handled and monitored
the bird over the weekend and am happy with my purchase.

Maxine has a large variety of birds and seems to take good care
of them. I am still new at bird keeping but liked her set-up. If
anyone is interested in talking to her she can be reached at:

Hello, read-only noter here. I don't have any pets right
now; unfortunately my apartment is a no pets situation, but
I've been dreaming about talking my landlord into letting me
get a bird. A noisey bird would be out, I'm sure, but I'm
thinking about something a little smaller and quieter.

I've seen Windsong Aviaries mentioned in here, but can't find
the note, so I'd like to know if anyone has experience with
them. I visited them once and though he had nice, well cared
for birds. Any opinions? Oh yeah, they're in Merrimack, NH,
or at least they were when I visited them.

    Thanks in advance.

Interesting point you bring up about No Pets Apartments. When I
was apartmtn hunting 2 years ago, I had my 2 cockatiels, a fish
bowl, and a caged lizard. I called many No Pets Allowed apartments
to find out their definition of No Pets, since many just mean no
cats or dogs. I was amazed at the varied response. Soem places
said no to the lizard since they thought it was gross. One place
said no to the fish since if the bowl broke, water would get on
the rug (all 16 oz. of it). And a couple places said no to the
birds. The concern with the birds wasn't the noie, but more that
the landlords were afraid that I wuld let the birds free fly around
the apartment and get bird poopies all over the rug.

Good luck in getting your bird. As long as you have proven to the
landlord that you are a responsible tenant, I doubt that you will
    have a problem.

OH! I guess 149.4 is a pretty high recommendation for
    Wingsong!
