334.0. ""Name your Favorite Cars"" by CSC32::P_SHERRY (It's Hell out there, old boy) Tue Nov 16 1993 21:33

Just figured I might open a can of worms (potentially) by getting
input/feedback on..anyone's 10 favorite race cars. Theycould be
specific cars (say Dan Gurney's Pacesetter Lotus 19 Ford) or general
vehicle type (Fairthorpe Electron). Just curious to see what responses
this note elicits; I'd imagine an eclectic response..comments
welcomed.. Just to get the ball rolling, here's my Top 10 List

    1. McLaren M8B

    2. Lola T70 Mk 3 B Coupe

    3. Porsche 917K '71 (the one with the wild fins)

    4. Mercedes w196

    5. Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe

    6. Ferrari GTO 62/63 or 64-both superlative looking

    7. Brabham BT44

    8. Chevron B16

    9. March 84/85G IMSA/Group C

    10. Jaguar XJR9

Have probably omitted 100-or-so which are on other's lists..D-Type Jag,
57 Testarossa, Lancia Stratos..the list goes on and on (as do I...)

I'd have to put the Stratos at the top of my list as well. The rest of the
list would include:

early Aston Martin, DB2 perhaps
early 30's supercharged Bentley roadster
Ferrari 125 Barchetta (the 166 or 195 will do too)
Mercedes C111 (mid-late 70's version)

334.3Stratos-Good ChoiceCSC32::P_SHERRYIt's Hell out there, old boyTue Nov 23 1993 20:164

Aaaahh...good choices! Stratos is a good selection..as Stirling Moss
said about the E-Type Jag "it's the ultimate Crumpet
    Collector"...though pretty rough inside..still a good choice!

          (Beta Montecarlo??)

	- the "prototype" cars that raced in IMSA GTP and WSC/FIA Group C

	- the "Modifieds" that race on dirt ovals
