To: Phil Lowe, Area III Director

We, the undersigned Regional Executives of the Southeast Division of SCCA
and representing the members of our Regions, do hereby request that you, as our
elected Area Director commence immediate actions to remove Nick Craw as
President of SCCA. It has become apparent that the direction Nick Craw is
taking SCCA is contrary to a club oriented organization and is that of a
non-member business.

We further direct you to instruct the Club Racing Department to immediately
change its policy of acting as race organizers and return to sanctioning and
overseeing Club Racing activities.

In the event, you do not agree to this petition, we pledge to do everything
within our power to have you replaced by a representative who will concur
with our request.

299.1my letter to CarlSASE::J_EVANSFri Jul 31 1992 14:2844

To: Carl Haas

Dear Mr. Haas,

I appreciate your candor in addressing the concerns of the membership in
the August issue of SportsCar. I share your commitment to the "club"
nature of the SCCA. It is this aspect that sets us apart from other major
sanctioning bodies, and what encourages the spirit of volunteerism that is
so critical to the continuation of our programs. As a race worker, I believe
that while it is important to conduct our affairs in a business-like manner,
we must ensure that the SCCA does not cross the line and become a business
that merely pays lip service to being a club. I urge the Board of Directors
to reaffirm it's position as the SCCA's policy setting body and pledge my
support in any actions it may take while doing so.

                                  Sincerely,

                                  Jim Evans - #136524
