    Does anyone know the origin or meaning for the name Olivia?  Do
    you consider it too old fashioned or a name that would be
    unique and original for a baby to be born this year?

    I love the name Olivia!  I think that because people DO consider it
    "old fashioned" that it doesn't get as used today so it WOULD be unique
    and original!

    My cousin had a daughter 4 months ago and she named her 
    
    Olivia Mary. 
    
    My cousin's name is Dorothy Olive, So Olivia is somewhat named after
    her.  I believe the name is getting popular, as there is now an 
    Olivia on the Cosby Show (about 4yrs old) and one on another that I 
    can't think of.   It is a beautiful name.  
    
    I really like Olivia Rose, as did my cousin, but she decided to name
    her after her sister Mary.

    Any more recent thoughts on the first name Olivia?  I really like this
    name but my husband is a little stand offish about it so far.  This is
    our first child and we have agreed on a boy's name but not a girl's
    name.

We are in the same boat, but I think my husband is ready to give in. I 
am going with my grandmothers name as a middle name. Olivia Jo.  Good
