124.0. "Taylor or Alexandra" by ODIXIE::RICHARDSON () Fri Sep 18 1987 12:39

    Hi -

I've just discovered this notesfile and up until now I THOUGHT I
had the names picked out for my baby (due in 6 weeks). If he's
    a boy - Taylor Matt, If a Girl - Alexandra Nicole. I haven't seen
any of these in here so if anyone knows origins of either, I'd love
to know. With Richardson as a surname, it makes it a little easier
to find one, however I do realize Alexandra Richardson is pretty
long - she will, however be called "Alex" - at least until she chooses
to shorten it as she prefers.

I thought Taylor was nice since it wasn't too trendy, too baby boomer
sounding, or too Fraternity sounding (like Bryce, Biff, etc), but
    it's still different.

I am, however, open to other suggestions....

I like the name Taylor. I have friends who call their son Taylor.
It's his middle name - he is actually Harry Taylor Hyams V (the
fifth). Mom refused to call him Harry when he had such a nice
middle name, and to avoid confusion. I have only heard it one other
time - but as a girls name. It sounds more boyish to me, but maybe
because that's how I heard it first.

(Oh, it means a tailor - surprise, huh?)

Excellent choices! My godson was almost named Taylor, but he got
Tyler, instead. As for Alexandra, I love it and will probably name
    my firstborn Alexandra or Alexander.

For now, I have named my gorgeous little kitten Alexandra. (Alex
for short) just because I like the sound of it.

Although I love the name Taylor very dearly as a first name, I don't
think my brothers will give that name to their children.(Although
    I might)

Can you imagine it? Taylor Taylor?

Incidentally, one of the nicknames (Russian) for Alexandra and
Alexander is "Sasha". Either the long form or the short form is
    beautiful to me.

124.5Alex it is!!!!!DIXIE1::RICHARDSONMon Jan 04 1988 18:0412

Well - she is here and she's an Alexandra Nicole - born October
    26. And...she's just beautiful (and healthy!). The only problem
that we've found with Alex as a name is when we introduce her as
that, at this point people think she's a little boy (although she
looks VERY feminine (but I guess only to her mother)). In time,
it will be obvious that "Alex" is a girl's name also.

I hope everyone else out there has as much fun having their baby
as I did (and still do!!). It's really wonderful being a mother.

I'm sorry that I called my cat Alex because I would have loved the
name for the baby that I'm trying to have!!

124.9TAYLOR, AMANDA, DEANDRABIGMAC::BREAULTWed Jul 20 1988 13:5923

We chose Taylor for our second child, but only if she were a girl
(and she is), with a middle name of Brooke. I picked Taylor based
on the real name of a favorite soap opera star of mine, Nina, from
All My Children, who's real name is Taylor Mills. I think she is
beautiful and unique, and so is her name, which is why I wanted
    it for our child.

We chose Amanda Erin for our first child's name long before we were
married, and stuck with that name when I gave birth to Amanda four
years ago. Taylor Brooke is now 22 months, and we are expecting
our third child (it'll probably be another girl!) in November.

The names we have picked for our third are Deandra (no middle name
decided on yet) for a girl, and Benjamin Thomas if (and that's a
big "if"!) its a boy. We picked Deandra when Michael Douglas thanked
his wife Deandra on the Academy Awards this year. Other than that,
I've never heard the name before, and would appreciate hearing if
anyone else has and knows where it is derived from.

    Hi Robin

I used to work with Harry at Yankee. I just started with DEC in
October and am finding so many people that know people I knew (does
that make sense?) I guess this is a really small world?

    Hi Kris,

Welcome to DEC. It is a small world. Did you know my husband -
Dave Kulp at Yankee? I think everyone at Yankee knows Harry!
