931.0. "Names to go with Li" by KYOSS1::CHANG () Tue Feb 08 1994 12:40

    Hi,

I have a niece who is due to have her second baby in the Fall and
has asked for help with names. Her son's name is Steven (no middle
name) and she wants something to sound good with that. The last
name is Li (pronouced LEE). She prefers names that are not too
    fussy or difficult to pronounce.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

931.1Philip Li????RTOEU::KRICKSFri Feb 11 1994 11:209
The first name that came to mind for a boy is Philip and for a girl is
    Karen.

Maybe you can give us some more information about the types of names
she likes - traditional, names that can not be shortened, names from a
    particular nationality et cetera.

    Cheers,
    Kim

    Hi,
I like Karen, and it matches well with Steven, too. The mother's
name is Kathy, father's name is Jack. They prefer names that cannot
be shortened, but 2 syllables if possible. Otherwise, it sounds too
chopped with a one syllable last name. There is no particular
nationality needed as long as it doesn't clash with a Chinese last
name -ie Jose' Li wouldn't go at all.

    Thanks,

    Chris

I have come up with additional names besides Karen to match with
Steven. What do you think of these:

    Barbara Li Kevin Li
    Sandra Li Brian Li
    Olivia Li David Li
    Allison Li Eric Li
    Karen Li

    Chris

931.5I kind of like Richard, Matthew, Derek or JoAnn, Monica or Diane...(glad I'm not picking ;-)AMCUCS::MEHRINGThu Feb 24 1994 16:4923
Hi, I finally had some ideas for this one:

	Scott Li	Diane Li
	Cameron Li	Christine Li
	Richard Li	Dana Li
	Jason Li	JoAnn Li
	Peter Li	Monica Li
	Matthew Li	Suzanne Li
	Derek Li	Erica Li
	Dennis Li	Caroline Li
	Roger Li	Robin Li
	Ryan Li Samantha Li

I also like Chris' suggestions of Kevin and Brian.

It's tough to find things that aren't "too fussy" but have some substance
to balance the short & sweet last name... By the way, since their son has
no middle name, can we assume they aren't planning one for this child?
Just curious for the flow.

Best of luck to Karen & Jack (+ Steven, too)!

-Cori
