848.0. "Baby girl McKenna" by NODEX::MMCKENNA () Tue Jan 05 1993 13:17

    Hi, I'm going to be a grandmother in about 2 weeks. My daughter
    needs help with a girls name. The boys name will be
    Alexander Michael McKenna. (Alex for short)

    How about a girls first and middle name. This is what is being tossed
    around at the moment. Oh, the name has to be able to be abbreviated
    into a nickname.

    Kassandra (Kassie)
    Hally (pronounced Hal-ee) (not sure if this is the correct spelling)
    Caitlyn (the dad doesn't really like this, but were working on him :)
    Erin (nickname is a problem here)
    Aimee (this was the first choice, but ever since the TV movies about
           Amy Fisher, it has lost popularity.)

    Don't like anything too odd for a first name. Help with middle names to
    match the above would be real helpful.

    Thanks,
    Marcie

848.1Hally out Jaime inNODEX::MMCKENNATue Jan 05 1993 17:315
    Since my first note, things are still very unstable. Seems Hally is
    OUT and Jaime is in.

    Please help, all suggestions welcome.

848.2Devon or Lyndsay?AMCUCS::MEHRINGTue Jan 05 1993 20:5216
Marcie,

Of the names listed, I like Erin and Jaime the best, and actually like
them combined: Erin Jaime McKenna (nickname could be "E.J."?) A few
other ideas:

	Abigail Jane McKenna	"Abbey"
	Devon Michelle		"Dee" or "Dev"
	Danielle Kate		"Dani"
	Lyndsay Rae		"Lyn"

Maybe it'll be a boy and she won't have to choose - I like her boy choice
a lot.

Good luck,
-Cori

    If Jaime and Caitlyn are still in the running, how about joining
    them up - Jaime Caitlyn McKenna.

848.4We have a JamieMR4DEC::DONCHINWed Jan 06 1993 19:1620
    Our daughter is a "Jamie," which we (hubby and I) found was the more
    common spelling for a female. Of course, where we grew up (the NYC
    metropolitan area) we only knew of females named Jamie (in New England,
    where we live now, there are both male and female Jamies--all of which
    we've met that are spelled Jamie, not Jaime). The "Jaime" spelling, we
    believe from our research, is a male name of Spanish origin (and is
    pronounced "hymie"). We've noticed that Jamie is becoming more popular
    for females than males here now, which, if true on a wide scale, will
    make it easier for our daughter in schools and organized activities
    (we always register our daughter as "Jamie Michelle Donchin" so that
    the adminstrators/organizers realize that she's a girl from the start).

    Obviously, my husband and I think Jamie/Jaime is a beautiful name. It's
    nice to hear that others think so too.

    Good luck!

    Nancy Donchin (Jamie's mom)

    Obviously, we think

    Thanks for the replies, and for the correct spelling of
    Jamie. I personally love Jamie (was my choice for a girl's name
    14 years ago when my son was born.) But, unfortunately (or perhaps
    fortunately) I don't get to choose the name this time. I can only
    offer suggestions, so thanks for the help!

    a name.
