815.0. "KJELD ??" by JGODCL::KNUIST (Ron Knuist JGO Nijmegen NL) Mon Aug 03 1992 15:23

Can anyone in Scandinavia help us ?

My wife , Hannie, is pregnant from our second. We named our first daughter
Anne. When de second one is a boy, we are considering the name ;
				Kjeld
We saw this name on the title-page of a movie and we liked the sound of it.
All be could find out was, that it means something like kettle or helmet.
We haven't come across this name very often, so our concern is ; is it a common
name in the Scandinavian countries ? Or is it a name that you would say ;
"I would never name my child like that".
Can anyone help us out here ?

Greetings,

Ron and Hannie Knuist.

    Ron,

    To make you feel better I just want to let you know that "Kjeld"
    doesn't mean either kettle or helmet or anything close.

    In Denmark "Kjeld" is a common name. It's not on the Top 10 list, but
    still a common name for a boy.

    Regards
    Pia
