776.0. "ideas for baby Lindsey?" by AIAG::LINDSEY () Fri Mar 27 1992 19:06

    We are due in 6 weeks and still are unsettled on a name for our baby.

    We have a 2-1/2 year old girl named Kathryn Elizabeth (last name is
    Lindsey).

    Some guidelines are

    1) we don't care for unisex names
    2) we don't want something very unusual, especially for a boy
    3) we tend to like classic, strong names
    4) it would be nice to put a family name in there as a middle name
       but we really don't care for the choices

      ex:  grandparents names

            Alberta Jeanette Marie
            Jeanne Marie
     	    Frank Alfred
    	    Robert Clair

      ex:  Great-Grandparents

    	    Sophie
    	    Clara
    	    Ernest
    	    Norris Clair

      Our names are Susan Alletta Sophie and Gerald (Jerry) Lee

      We kinda like Steven James or Steven Michael if its a boy, although
    it would be kinda nice to put a relatives name in if it sounded
    reasonable.

    We are pretty clueless when it comes to a girl, but have been toying
    with Marie or Suzanne as a middle name.

    Ideas?

    Jeanette Marie is nice. How about Janine as a variation?

    I like your Steven combinations. But if you want to use relatives
    names how about Steven Alfred or Steven Robert?

    For girls' names:

    Clara Marie Lindsey
    Clara Suzanne Lindsey
    Suzanne Marie Lindsey

    I also like Jeanette Marie as suggested in .1.

    Best of luck to you.

776.4What's in a nameBSS::K_LAFFINMon Mar 30 1992 23:1816
    I came up with a name derived from a grandmother and a Great
    grandmother.

    Sophia Jeanette Lindsey

    I like Steven as a middle name but not as a first.

    What about

    Anthony Steven Lindsey
    Daniel Steven Lindsey
    Steven Francis (Grandfather) Lindsey
    Derek Douglas Lindsey

776.5family names under consideration only as middle namesAIAG::LINDSEYWed Apr 01 1992 20:0019

    RE: all

    We really don't care for any of those family names as first names.
    We just thought it would be nice to include as a middle name if it
    fit well with the first name.

    I thought of Steven Francis but wondered if it made him sound like
    a saint?

    I think we are pretty set on Steven if its a boy unless something
    really strikes our fancy...it the girl's name that we aren't settled
    on at all.

    Appreciate the ideas and welcome many more....

    Thanks,

    Sue

    One more idea...

    I was just reading about making up a name from a combo of two names or
    from an anagram (mixing up the letters to make a new name) ie. earth =
    ethra. or from Jerry and Rubin - Jerin. That could be interesting too
    -
    although I would probably only consider it for a girl's name. I hear
    that there's too much prejudice against an unusual boy's name.

776.7Victoria Suzanne/Steven RobertCNTROL::STOLICNYThu Apr 02 1992 10:3220

    For classic, strong girls' names that are not unisex and complement
    Kathryn Elizabeth, perhaps you'd consider the following:

    Victoria Suzanne Lindsey
    Diana Marie Lindsey
    Andrea Jeanne Lindsey
    Michelle Jeannette Lindsey
    Rebecca Jane Lindsey

    I like Victoria and Michelle the best.

    I like Steven Francis - don't think to associate it with a saint -
    but then, I'm not particularly religious. Steven Robert is a nice
    combo too. I think both Steven Francis and Steven Robert are in
    keeping with Kathryn Elizabeth. How about Steven Gerald to give
    Dad some glory???

    Only 6 weeks? The countdown is on! Good luck,
    Carol
776.8I like those too!AIAG::LINDSEYFri Apr 03 1992 20:3913

    Carol,

    Its funny that you chose Victoria and Michelle. I liked Victoria (not
    that fond of Vickie though) and my husband likes Michelle.

    Jerry really doesn't like the name Gerald, so I am sure he wouldn't
    want to pass it down to his son.\

    Thanks for the suggestions - I am going to run them by Jerry.

    I went to school with a girl names Victoria and she was nick-named
    Torie. I think it is different and so much nicier than Vickie.
