724.0. "Name for baby Cunningham" by EMDS::CUNNINGHAM () Tue Aug 20 1991 17:09

    Okay...I've been reading this Notesfile for awhile now, and pretty much
    think we have our names picked out, but would be interested in some
    more ideas. (baby is due in October) We are still open for change
    and suggestions and I'd be interested to see if anyone comes up with
    something we haven't thought of yet..

    So far:

    Boy:  Michael John
    Girl:  Megan Nicole

    My husbands name is Stephen Michael, and we have both liked the name
    Michael even before conception. My Dad's name is John Michael (this
    would be his first grandchild), my grandfathers names were Michael, and
    John... We've thought about Michael Stephen too, but thought with the
    long names of Michael, and Cunningham, it might be too much?
    And yes...his family is very Irish, although its not a requirement.

    Any ideas?

724.1Michael John is great!CNTROL::STOLICNYTue Aug 20 1991 18:2412

    Michael John is excellent and a perfect choice considering all the
    people it honors! Beware of baby boys named Michael, however.
    They have a reputation of being little terrors! :-) Great name!

    I've never been crazy about Megan, but it does sound nice with Nicole
    as a middle name. I rather prefer Colleen, Erin, Catherine, or Kelly
    for Irish girls' names.

    Good luck,
    Carol

724.2Right on the nose!EMDS::CUNNINGHAMWed Aug 21 1991 10:3714

    What a riot Carol, all the girls names you mentioned are women in
    my husbands family!

    Colleen - sister-in-law
    Erin - daughter (from first marriage)
    Catherine - sister
    Kelly - Niece/godchild

    Thats funny!

    Keep em coming!

    How about Amy Nicole? It is short and goes well with Cunningham
    in my opinion. I agree with your choice for a boy's name.

    Chris

724.4Tara, Shannon, Alison or Sheila?CNTROL::STOLICNYWed Aug 21 1991 14:3116

    re: .2 I guess that means that I have good taste in names, huh?
             Haha.

    One other name that I forgot to include that sounds great with
    Cunningham and is Irish Gaelic is Tara. Tara Nicole Cunningham,
    do you like it?

    Other Irish-Gaelic names worth considering are:

    Molly, Shannon, Alison, the ever-popular Caitlin, Brenna (don't really
    like it myself), Kerry, and Sheila.

    Tara, Shannon, Alison, or Sheila would get my votes.

724.5More votes for Michael John, Tara, Molly or SheilaRAB::MEHRINGWed Sep 11 1991 19:177
I love the 3 names: Tara, Molly, and Sheila with Cunningham!! And they all
sound good with Nicole. Megan's not bad either, but these are more unusual.

And I agree that Michael John is a great boy's name choice...

Good luck deciding!

724.6Election is over: Michael John is bornEMDS::CUNNINGHAMWed Feb 19 1992 15:4513

    And the results are:

    Michael John Cunningham was born October 17, 1991

    Thanks for all the replies...

    Chris

    (PS...I think we were going to stick with Megan if HE was a girl,
    	  although, Tara was a strong second, and Julie was third.)
