690.0. "boys name w/ J C?" by ODIXIE::HUTNICK () Fri May 24 1991 15:28

    My husband and I are expecting our first child. He has requested that
    the child have the same intials as his. I don't have a problem with
    this except that we have not been able to settle on a boys name, we've
    come up with a girls name, Jamie Caye. I know that I could use Jamie as
    a boys name but I like it too much for a girls name.

    My husbands name is James Charles Smith and he does not want the child
    named after him and no John! It is no fun having the second most common
    name in the states and would problably be even less fun to have the
    most common one.

    We have sort of settled on Jeffery as a first name but haven't agreed
    on the middle name. He keeps saying that he wants to name it California
    and call him Cal (he graduated from Berkley and grew up in California).
    He says it worked out fine for Indiana Jones, why not California Smith?
    I refuse give my child a middle name of California, I don't mind the
    Cal part but please, California. He also doesn't really like old
    Biblical names so those are out too, he likes the southern names since
    we live in the south. If anyone has any ideas for a boys name with the
    intials JC I would appreciate the help.
    Thanks,

    Megan Smith

    I'm with you on California; is your husband pulling your leg?

    Well, one "C" boys' name that I've seen used recently and really
    like is Cody, but it doesn't sound too good with Jeffrey. Other
    possibilities include: Christopher, Calvin, Colin, Chad, Clint, or
    why not Charles after his dad? Using Jeffrey as a first name, I
    like:   Jeffrey Colin Smith
            Jeffrey Christopher Smith
            Jeffrey Charles Smith
            Jeffrey Calvin Smith

    If you're open to other names, I'd suggest:

            Jason Cody Smith
            Jeremy Charles Smith

    I was going to say Jeremy Chad but it sounded too much like Chad
    and Jeremy!

    Good luck, maybe you'll have a Jamie Caye and not have to worry about
    a boys' name,
    Carol

    I think Jeffrey Connor would be an excellent combo!

    I love the name Jeffrey (always have) and I like it with Connor
    and Smith. Very dignified. Another combo I like is from others'
    suggestions:  Joshua Cody Smith...

    Good luck and congrats,
    Kathryn

690.5JCS = Jean-Claude SMITHLEMAN::EMONINMon May 27 1991 07:2510
    Megan,

    Why don't you try a French boy name like : Jean-Claude SMITH ?

    Not easy to stick to the same initials and remain "original"

    Good Luck

690.6Hows about it?NYEM1::REISThu May 30 1991 18:427
    If you like southern names why not just name him JC Smith? Both my
    father and his brother only have initials for names; M H and D I and
    the only problem my father had was when he moved to Jersey and they
    wouldn't accept it at motor vechicles as a proper name. Or just use
    C. if yall can't agree on a middle name.

    Have fun and congrats.!
690.7Jared or Jordan??GUCCI::SCHLICKENMAIWed Jul 31 1991 18:098
    How about Jared (or Jarrod) Charles. It's a little bit different and a
    little bit like his too!

    Or how about Jordan Charles? My son's middle name is Jordan and
    everyone likes it [he is Alexander Jordan, sometimes shortened to AJ].

    I like the name Jared (nickname Jed). I knew someone with that name,
    and he was extremely talented, and had a wicked sense of humor.
