684.0. "Adam, Max, Tess & Abby..?" by NETCUR::REID (Marc Reid LKG2-2 226-7312) Thu May 16 1991 16:16

    Hi,

We have nine-month old twins, Marc and Grace, and are expecting again
(due in Jan. 1992). I want to run a few names by you folks before I
show them to my wife - sort of quality control :-)

    Boys' names Girls' names
    ----------- ------------

    Adam Tess
    Max Abby

..I like short (one or two syllable) names, and need some ideas on
    middle names. Thanks,

    Marc

If the last name is Reid, I think two-syllable names sounds better than single-
syllable ones...

Therefore, of your choices (which all sound decent by the way), I like:

	Adam Jonathan Reid

and

Abby Lynn Reid (or Abigail Tess Reid)

Better see what your wife thinks, since that's the hardest opinion to overrule!

I think Marc and Max sound very much alike so I go for ADAM!

Adam Max Reid sounds pretty good. Whatcha think?

I like Tess very much, though how about using Tessa Reid? Gives it
alittle zip and you can call her Tess once in awhile.

Tessa Marie Reid, Tessa Lyn Reid ...

By the way Marc, what is your middle name and what is your wife's full
    name.?

Marc and Grace are super names for twins! WHat did you give them for
    middle names?

    re: last few

Thanks for all the suggestions and feedback!

Adam Max Reid - I like it :-)
    Tess Marie - ditto

My full name is (get this) August Marcel Reid Jr., my wife's name
is Kathleen Elizabeth-Ann Brown (now Brown-Reid). Our twins Gracie
and Marc use just my last name. Marc we named after me, Grace was
just a small way of thanking God for letting us have them in the first
    place!

    re: .4
Based on your last sentence, how about some "biblical" choices for
middle names like: Adam Paul or Adam Joseph
                        Abby Ruth
                        Tess Mary
                        Max Philip

I don't know about anyone else, but Tess and Abby seem like nicknames
to me. A child with a nickname for its given name will undoubtedly
go through life trying to convince people that it is their full name
(I often have people write or call me Carolyn when my name is just
Carol). Now, I know this is other people's problem, but it is
something to consider. With that in mind, here's some other short
    name suggestions for girls:

    Amy
    Nina
    Ruth
    Dana
    Beth

Paul would be a good choice for a boy as well.

Three children under the age of 2 will be quite a handful!
    Good luck,
    Carol

Just to close this out -

We've chosen: DYLAN PATRICK for a boy

                            or

                   CHLOE DIANA for a girl

Our baby is due on 1/1/92. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions!

Talk about changing your minds !?! 8-) Those names are completely
    different than your earliest considerations!

    Best wishes, nice choices,

    Carol

oh, you noticed that too? :-)

I didn't change my mind (all the names in .0 were my choices). Dylan
and Chloe were my wife's choices. She just wore me down :-) I've
grown to like the names, though. I think Dylan is pretty cool....

    Thanks,

well, four days before the baby's due and Kathi has decided that she
likes the name Chloe but doesn't *love* it and her new choice is
Michaela. Not a bad name, but what is it? Is it Gaelic, Italian,
Welsh, Samoan?? Anybody know? The full name would be (assuming it's a
    girl, we still don't know):
                                Michaela Kathleen Reid

    thanks, Marc

I believe it is Hawaiian for Michelle. I have a friend that named her
