I don't think Emily sounds Southern at all, but could be wrong!
As far as popularity, none of your selected girls name strike
me as overly-popular right now. Of course, I don't know ANYONE
that's had a girl lately (out of 13 or so births in the last couple
years, it's amazing!) so don't know what the popular girls' names
are! I also like Abigail for what it's worth.

As far as your boys' choices, I think both Travis and Tyler are
kind of trendy and popular and I do know one baby boy Devin and
one toddler Derek, so they are being *used* but are probably not
"popular". Do you like any of these?:

    Grant Tyler Coleman
    Taylor Bryce Coleman
    Trent Joseph Coleman
    Tanner Bryce Coleman
    Spencer Derek Coleman

Just a few non-traditional but not overly-popular ideas!
    Good luck,
    Carol

Derek Tyler and Emily Mae both sound wonderful!

I really like Emily, Olivia and Abigail. My 16 years old daughter
is an Emily (Emily Amanda), and she has 1 other girl in the 3 schools
she has attended with the name of Emily.

From the list of your boys names, Travis is my favorite. How
    about Travis Derek?

I agree - I don't think Emily (or any of the other girls' names) is that
"popular" of late.

However, given your Irish background, would you consider:

	Erin Mae Coleman
Devon Mae Coleman (I really like this for a girl, but am not crazy
			   about it for a boy...)

or, for boys:

	Collin Tyler Coleman
	McLean Tyler Coleman

Just some ideas,
-Cori

Just for the record we named our little girl Emily and found in a book
that it is one of the top 20 names in popularity in 1989 or 90. (I'm
not certain which year). We went with it anyway! Marcelle

I have decided on the name "Emelie" when it is my time comes. I love
the name and really like the different spelling. "Amelie" is also
    really pretty.
