    In order, I like:

Melanie Ann (I just love the name Melanie, and Lani is a neat nickname)
Jennifer Leigh (Love the name, but it is a TAD overused)
Carissa Leigh (No real opinion on this name...don't hate it; don't love
    		  it)

What are your choice(s) for a boys name, or do you know that it is
    going to be a girl?

My vote goes for Melanie as well. It is unique without being too
unusual. I don't care for Carissa and while Jennifer is nice it is
very popular. Would you consider other middle names for Melanie?
I like Melanie Rae and Melanie Jean.

I agree with .3 - of the three you originally listed, I like Melanie
the best. If you like Carissa, how about Marissa? It's kind of
an updated version of Mary. The nickname, I guess, would be Mari.
I don't particularly like it though because it deletes the uniqueness
of Marissa. So if a nickname is important, it might not be for you.

    I also like the Marissa.

It's feminine as well as a strong name.
