602.0. "Need a name for a girl" by CXCAD::CAMPBELL () Thu Nov 01 1990 18:31

We need a girls first name to go with Campbell. We would probably
use Paige as a middle name. We have a name for a boy already.
The baby is due Jan. 25th.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Francine

    How about Olivia Paige. Or I have a friend named Paige Melanie.

602.2Some suggestions for youKYOA::CHANGFri Nov 02 1990 17:5716
    I have a new niece that we named Jessica Paige - I think these names
    sound good together.

    Paige is a great middle name. Since it is one sylable, I think a
    multi-sylable first name would be a good match. Other possibilities:

    Victoria		Amanda
    Virginia		Emily
    Rebecca		Sarah
    Kathleen		Allyson
    Melissa		Maura

    May I ask what name you have picked for a boy? It will help us
    make good suggestions.

    On rereading my list, I think Rebecca Campbell might be too many "C's".

602.4thanks.... what do you think?CXCAD::CAMPBELLFri Nov 02 1990 20:108
Thanks for the suggestions. If it is a boy we will name him Jacob
Alexander. My husbands middle name is Paige but I like it for a girl.

I like the suggestion for Olivia Paige, also I like Rachael Paige
or Stephanie Pagie. What do you think?

Thanks,
Francine
602.5I like Jacob...RIPPLE::BARTHOLOM_SHWhere is the sun?Fri Nov 02 1990 23:038
    Ooooh I like Jacob Alexander!!!

    A friend of mine has the middle name Paige...her first name is Corrine.

    I do like to the sound of Olivia Paige Campbell...it sounds good
    together.

602.7My favorite, OliviaPFSVAX::LILLYWed Nov 07 1990 13:355
    I'm glad you liked Olivia Paige. I kind of have it picked out for my
    third. That or Rebecca Paige. Does anyone know where Olivia comes from?
    And what does it mean.

    Cindy
602.8Victoria, Olivia, AllysonEXIT26::MACDONALD_KWed Nov 07 1990 15:408
    I liked Chris' suggestion of Victoria. My neighbor's little niece
    is named Victoria and they call her Tory. Of course, Olivia is nice
    as well and I'm kind of biased when it comes to Allyson (my little
    one).

    Congratulations,
    Kathryn

602.9Meaning of 'Olivia'BIS3::HENROTThu Nov 15 1990 15:3314

    Olivia comes from the Latin word 'Oliva', which means 'olive'.
    The masculine version of that same word/name is Oliver.
    The patron saint named Olivia is a young Italian girl who was
    a martyr in Brescia at the beginning of the second century.
    Olivia's are celebrated on 5 March.
    There is a different patron saint for 'Oliver' : a companion of Roland,
    in the medieval chivalry story (period of Charlemagne). Oliver
    is celebrated on 12 July.
    I found all this in a book which gives the ecplanation of names, with
    their ethymology.

    Just wondering why you don't consider Paige for a first-name?
