578.0. "Casey for a Girl" by SAHQ::FLEMINGA () Wed Aug 22 1990 12:57

    I have just found out through amnio that I am having a girl--I'm
    thrilled as I have a 2 1/2 year old boy now. I want to name her Casey
    but my husband says that's a boy's name. Does anyone know any girls
    named Casey, if so how do they spell the name?

    Thanks,
    Anne

    Yes I know two Caseys. One whose full name is Cassandra Carol and one
    whose name is Casey Leigh. Unisex names are becoming more popular.

    Personally, I *prefer* Casey for a girl.

    I, too, prefer Casey for a girl. And if I remember correctly,
    isn't there a newswoman on Channel 4 in Boston named Casey (or
    Kasey) Kaufmann???

I don't know of any Caseys, but I do know of a girl named Callie. If you
feel at all like compromising this may seem better to your husband.

    Hi,
    A good friend of mine has a beautiful 6 month old girl named Casey.
    They used the same spelling as you did in your note, but if your
    husband objects to the spelling, choose your own!

    Good luck!

578.6good name, different opinion...RDCV03::CHAPMANFri Aug 24 1990 18:0214
    It seems that I may be outnumbered but I had to reply to this one
    since the name caught my eye.

    We just had our first baby on July 1'st and we named HIM Casey.

    So NATURALLY my wife and I think of the name as a boys name although
    in the Note 544 that I started for suggestions there is some discussion
    about it being a girls name also.

    Anyway, we still love the name and even though it seems like a boys
    name to us I suppose it's OK to use it for a girl (as long as it
    doesn't get too popular as a girls name only... we'll see in the years
    to come).

578.7Girls name but boy, why not ?SKYWAY::RIESENMon Aug 27 1990 07:1810
    Hi,
    personnaly and to the eyes and ears of someone from switzerland,
    Casey is a girl's name.
    However, I am happy to hear that it can also be the one from a boy.

    Here in Switzerland, I would say it is thought as a girls name...

    Anyway, I like it very much.

    I think Casey is being used more for a girl's name these days than a
    boys.

    I know a 3 1/2 year old girl named Casey.

    My brother picked this as a nickname for his little girl. Her "real"
    name is Cassidy -- that's my mom's maiden name.

    I've always been fond of Irish names.
