577.0. "Help Name Baby Sutton" by NUTMEG::MACDONALD_K () Tue Aug 21 1990 15:46

    I have yet another pregnant friend who needs some help...

    Last name:        Sutton
    Mom's name:       Deborah
    Dad's name:       Paul
    Daughter's Name:  Danielle
    New Baby's Name:  No Ideas!

    Debbie's husband would like to name the baby Paul if it's a boy
    (not a jr. though - would use a different middle name) but she's
    not too keen on the idea. They would both like suggestions for
    both girls' and boys' names. Middle names, too. Thanks for your
    opinions.

577.1Paula Sutton?TIPTOE::STOLICNYTue Aug 21 1990 17:0611

    How about Paula for a girl? I also like Rachel, Marie, Elaine,
    Victoria, Ashley...there are lots of possibilities though I'd
    personally stay away from somthing that ended in -en, -lyn, etc

    If Dad wants to include his name for a little guy, how 'bout as
    the middle name? Again, for boys I'd stay away from the -in
    and -on ending names (Justin, Jason, Adam) - too sing-song.
    I like Jeremy (Paul), Michael, Nicholas, Andrew.

I second the idea of Paul for a middle name. I've a brother who we call by
his middle name and he says it's been a hassle all his life. The system
just isn't set up to allow people to use their middle names. Also,
although I like the name Paul, if they did use it as a first name they'd
inevitably get people who call him that--and two of any name in one house
is confusing. (My husband has this--he's named John after his dad, and you
wouldn't believe how confusing it is. The family calls my husband Johnny
to keep them separate, but he's now 40 and 6'4"--anybody outside the family
who here's 'Johnny' only laughs.)

For a boy, how about Joseph Paul. Joe Sutton is still a nice sounding
name.

For a girl, how about Colette. I like the sound of Michele Sutton, but if
they already have a Danielle, I think the two names would sound too
similar.
