542.0. "Adrianna..??.." by CECV03::M_SANFORD () Wed Jun 20 1990 13:58

    My wife and I are expecting this September. We have chosen the gilr's
    name to be Adrianna. The only difficulty is trying to find an
    appropriate middle name.

    		Adrianna ____________ Sanford

    Adrianna is a derivative of Adrian and the last name is of French
    origin.

    Please help we've thought of only Marie . We need some creative
    suggestions.

    Thanks  Michael!

542.4Very french, very differentSMAUG::RLAMONTThu Jun 21 1990 12:348
    Well, this is a very different name, but I heard it several times and
    it's french. I don't know the meaning, and you either like it or hate
    it. I think it's very interesting.....

    Pilar. It's pronouced very french like Pelar (long e), with strength
    on the lar.

542.5I know of a Pilar too....BARTLE::BARRLRainbow ConnectionThu Jun 21 1990 15:255
    My sister's boyfriend is from Columbia and his sister's name is Pilar.
    It may very well be a French name because he has a brother named Rene'
    (pronounced Reh-nay).

    Lori B.
542.6Italian and Spanish !BRS01::HENROTFri Jun 22 1990 06:425
    The Franch name is Adrienne. I suspect that Adrianna would be the
    Italian form of it.
    Pilar is definitely Spanish.
    Best regards
    Anne

One of our friends married a Spanish girl when he was studyng for a year in
Spain. Her name was Pilar. When they got married she became Pilar Percival!

Anyway - I would definately say that Pilar was a Spanish name. It doesn't look
French at all to me.....

    How about
    Adrianna Maria Sanford

    I know they are both 'a' names but it seems to roll of the tongue quite
    nicely.

    Adrianna Amanda Sanford
    Adrianna Celina Sanford
    Adrianna Elizabeth Sanford
    Adrianna Alexis Sanford

542.11Simplify itNUTMEG::MACDONALD_KWed Jun 27 1990 18:487
    If you'd like another opinion... I'd go for a one syllable middle
    name. I think Adrianna is a beautiful name and can stand well on
    its own, and a middle name with more than one syllable tends to
    "compete" with Adrianna. You've already said that you like Lianne...
    how about Leigh, or Lee, or Lea?

    I really love Adrianna Rose Sanford,

    but how about (a variation of what was already suggested)

    Adrianna Elisabeth Sanford??

    Oh, yes. Adrianna Rose really does sound nice. See what I mean
    about one syllable?

    My mother-out-law,...I mean in-law will love to hear that. Her name is
    Rosaleen. I too love the name ROSE. Also the other suggestions about
    one syllable names are great. (Lee, Lea, etc.)

    By the way we don't know what sex our new arrival will be..The other
    day when I witnessed the baby "break-dancing" in my wife's stomach I
    had the horrifying realization that....it might be a boy...

542.15adrianna/adrianTIPTOE::STOLICNYMon Jul 02 1990 15:577

    I agree that one syllable sounds best with the multi-syllabic first
    name. For another opinion, I like Adrianna Beth Sanford. It's
    a boy!? - Adrian is the male equivalent if you really like the
    name - not my favorite though!

542.16A positive AdrianSTEREO::FAHELAmalthea CelebrasMon Jul 02 1990 19:0111
    For a change...a name with a POSITIVE connection!!

    My grandmother's husband's name is Adrian, and that man is an absolute
    SAINT! My "little Memere" has Alzheimer's, and has to live in a
    nursing home, and Adrian goes to see her every day, takes her out to
    lunch, buys her little things, etc.

    (For the record, it wasn't his idea to put her in a nursing home; it
    was done for his OWN health!)

542.17A little too late...19119::JANDROWFri Sep 13 1991 17:436

    I KNOW IT'S TOO LATE TO GIVE A SUGGESTION, BUT I HAVE A FRIEND WHO'S
    NAME IS ADRIANA MARITZA VALENZUELA. ADRIANA IS *DEFINATLY* SPANISH.
