496.0. "Last name: Winship" by FENNEL::MACDONALD_K () Fri Feb 09 1990 12:39

    Hi all...

My daughter's babysitter (Jeannie) is pregnant with her second
child (due in May) and I've told her about this notesfile...
Her last name is Winship - husband's name is Timothy and their
little 2-year-old (he's such a sweetie!) is named after his
dad. They've decided on Jacob if the new baby is a boy, but
haven't settled on a girls' name yet. Jeannie likes names that
begin with "A" but also loves the name Ivy - which, unfortunately,
her husband doesn't like at all. Maybe you folks have some good
ideas for them. I've suggested Amy for a girl and, of course,
Ian for a boy although I like Jacob, too. If any of you have
some ideas... put 'em down! I'm sure she's appreciate unbiased
opinions - and you guys are all such great babynamers.

    Thanks,
    Kathryn

How about Amanda with her name as the middle name?
	Amanda Jean Winship
Abagail?
Jennifer?

I don't really like the name Jacob. It's just that I can't picture a baby
being called that. It sounds like an adult name. I like Jake, though.

    re:-1

Yes... I see what you mean. Most biblical names tend to sound
a little oldish, but I LOVE the nickname Jake. I mentioned it
to Jean, but I can't tell whether or not she liked it. Your
idea of using her own name as the baby's middle name is nice.
I like Amanda Jean... I'll run it by her.

I also like Amanda Jean. And what about Alicia (I better like it
    the french way: Alice (a-lis))

Jake is a beautiful nickname (but Jacob is awful).

My 2 1/2 year old is Alexandra (we call her Alex and it fits her
perfectly) - I'm pregnant with my second now due VERY soon and are
thinking about Abigail (Abby) for this one. I also like Alyssa but not
for ours - too close to Alex.

I've been so happy with Alexandra that it's been very hard to come up
with a name I like as much for the 2nd (although it could be a boy and
I wouldn't have to worry about it).

I LOVE Abby! Sounds like a good choice to me. What do you have in
    mind for a boy's name?
