474.0. "Dutch names" by HOO78C::DUINHOVEN () Wed Jan 03 1990 09:58

    Dutch names:

Hello, I am Hans Duinhoven working for Digital Holland (Netherlands).
We are expecting our third baby now, duedate January 28th.
We have named our two boys Danny & Dave, so you see we are fond
    of English names.

Maybe you'd like to know Dutch names.

Hans Duinhoven (Hans is derived from John)
My wife's name is typical Dutch: Tineke which is derived from
    Catherine.

    Regards,

    Hans

Hans,

Have you picked out a name or names for your soon-to-be-born baby?

How is Tineke pronounced?

- Lori

474.2Names to be & NO trufflesHOO78C::DUINHOVENTue Jan 09 1990 15:3422
    Hi Lori,

Yes at the end: Boy will be Kevin or if it will be a girl: Daisy.

I won't send truffles: it's a Dutch habit to treat friends & family
on biscuits with "Mice" on it. These mice are typical Dutch small
sweets you put onto the bicuits. There small irregular shaped balls
with anice taste. There coloured in white and pink for girls and
    white and blue for boys.

Tineke is pronounced Teeneke the -neke sounds like "eh" when you
    don't know what to say....

Maybe the biscuits issue is another topic for this notesfile...

By the way: all's fine, we had a scan last friday.

    Cheers,

    Hans

    WHOOPIE: It's a girl!

    So it's Daisy!
She weighed at her birth 5.5 Lbs.
She was born in the VERY stormy night of the 25-26th of January.
I phoned the police first, to be sure the road was not blocked with
    trees or stranded vehicles!
    All is well!

She'll be baptised with the names: Margareth Catherine.
    Daisy is derived from Margareth
Catherine is from my wifes name Tineke.

    Hi Hans!

We are both Dutch, but lets do this in English, otherwise the majority
of the readers can't understand it!! Congratulations with Daisy!!
I really like the way you've named your 3 children, all starting
with a "D" !! It makes them a sort of a "team"... Very nice!!
Anyway, good luck with the her!!!
    Greetings,
    Ilse Borrias.

    Hi,

I quit with this note, because I found, what I was looking for.
Secondly Daisy has got Dew-worm, a skin disease.
Therefore I'll switch to the parenting note.
If there are some questions about Dutch names, please address them
to me: Hans Duinhoven@UTO (I'm at All in One now)

    Regards,
