455.0. ""Lyrical" name for musician?" by OADEV::KAUFMANN (Coram Deo) Thu Oct 26 1989 18:02

My wife and I are expecting our first in January. Since my wife
is a singer (classical), we are interested in names that "flow",
    almost lyrically.

Our last name has a hard, choppy feel, so it may no be easy. We
may use our first names as the baby's middle name:

    	xxxxxx Elizabeth Kaufmann
    	xxxxxx Robert Kaufmann

But we're open to any suggestions. Our current choices are:

    	Heather Elizabeth Kaufmann
    	Timothy Robert Kaufmann

    I appreciate your help.

    Regards,
    Bo

I have some friends who named their daughter Aria. Definitely
    a music-related name! It's pretty, and uncommon.

Aria Kaufmann sound beautiful, but not so great when its Aria Elizabeth
Kaufmann. Kinda a mouthful. But its still okay. Melodie Elizabeth
Kaufmann seems to flow a little better, but is still kinda "choppy".
I think both the first names would be nice, but you might have to
come up with a different middle name. Something short, one syllable.
Aria Lee, Melodie Rae, (As is Do-Re-Mi). Heather Elizabeth is pretty
    too.

As for boys names. Your choice is good. I can't think of any
"musical" names, but do either of you have a favorite composer?
How about Wolfgang, or Ludwig? Just kidding.

    Good luck!

Don't laugh. I have an Uncle Wolfgang (only it's actually Wolfgong)
    and a grandfather, Ludwig!!!

    Hi,

I agree with .3 - It seems as though the Middle names you'd like to use
are the "choppy" sound in the names. Elizabeth is beautiful, but as a
middle name it's chops with Kaufmann. I really like the Melody (or
Melodie) Rae. That flows very musically with Kaufmann.

    Best of luck

I know a little girl named Harmony. And I'd cast a strong vote
for Aria as well. It's beautiful.

Well, it's January 18th... Any word on the "little one"? When is your
