My secretary is looking for a good girl and boy name to go with
her last name, Legg. (No Ophelia or Peg jokes, please!!).

Any good creative suggestions out there???

    Hi Dale,

At first, I thought Legg would be a very difficult name to work
with, but now I don't think so. One syllable last names lend
themselves well to three syllable first names and that's my first
inclination - to come up with three (or four) syllable names. Now,
since I don't know your secretary or anything about her, I'll just
take a wild stab. Here are a few:

    Girls - Alison
            Melissa
            Victoria

Boys - Mason (I know, that blows my 3 syllable theory, but I like
                   the name)
Derek (O.K. I can't think of any 3 syllable names for boys)
Colin (I know a guy named Colin with a 1 syllable last name)

Boys' names are very difficult for me. I really have a
            tough time with them.

How about Jonathan or Nicholas or Alexander (although Alex Legg is
awkward. Also, these are fairly popular names...

I can tell you the kinds of names I would avoid to go with Legg

Any name ending in an 'a' sound or corruptible to end in an 'a'
sound, or with a nickname or pet form that ends up in this category

    Like Maria

	Marie- a Legg
    	Zo - e Legg
    	Margaret ... Peggy Legg
    	John ... John y Legg

I think a name needs to be strong ending to make it complete, so
there is little tendency to want to run the names together,
    like

    	Mark
    	Martin

    	Dawn
    	Jane
    	Janice

Those are just some examples ... but you'll get the idea

    Hi,

I just thought of another name that I think might go with Legg.
How about Veronica? Sounds kind of like Veronica Lake...

But really, there's a new song out by Elvis Costello called
"Veronica" that I really like. One of my favorites lines from
    it goes like this"

"... but she used to have a carefree mind of her own,
with a devilish look in her eye saying 'You can
call me anything you like, but my name is Veronica'..."
