370.0. "Some Feedback please" by HYEND::JHALL () Tue Apr 11 1989 14:31

    I am new to this file but would like some feed back on the two names
    we have chose so far. Oh yeah, I am pregnant and due in late July.

    For a girl:

        Cassandra Cherie Casbeer

    For a boy: ( a little up in the air)

    Wesley Elijah Casbeer
           or
    Wesley Eli Casbeer

    Anyone have the meanings of Elijah and Eli, I am partial to
    Elijah, where my husband is partial to Eli (his father's middle
    name).

    Thanks,

    Kim

    P.S. My first choice for a boys name was Nicholas Isiaah Casbeer,
           the initials spelling Nic, but my Husband hated Nicholas.

      Elijah and Eli (a form of Elijah) is Hebrew meaning
        Faithful to God. I personally like the full Elijah
        better. I also like the name Cassandra. My first
        is due in September and if it is a girl, her name
        will be Cassie (not Cassandra). My husband prefers
        the shorter.

>        Cassandra Cherie Casbeer

	Cassie Casbeer (what she will probably get called) is pretty
	sing-songy -- kinda like Hubert Humphrey, Horatio Hornblower,
	etc. Cassie is particularly unfortunate with with Case-a-beer --
	which I assume is a pretty common play on your last name. All
	in all, too many C's for me.

	Cassandra is also pretty formal and rather a mouthful. It's
	becoming fairly popular these days, though, so that shouldn't
	be such a big problem. It also has a rather standard -- and
	pretty -- nickname.

>    Wesley Elijah Casbeer
>           or
>    Wesley Eli Casbeer

	Elijah is a little too Old Testament, fire and brimstone,
	fundamentalist for me -- seems pretty heavy to give a little
	baby. I DO like Eli though. By the way, I also like Nicholas.

370.3I LOVE that name!MLLAB::KEGLEYWed Apr 12 1989 10:595

    My daughter is 4 years old. Her full name is Cassandra Leigh LaMay.

    I LOVE the name Cassandra! We also call her Cassie.

    I know a Cassandria -- she is Cassie (not like KC).
370.5Jordan???BUSY::SEC6SJTue Apr 18 1989 11:133

    What about Jordan Casbeer? I like the sound of that. Cassandra
    sounds nice for a girl's name.

    Actually we have both thought about Jordan, but once again my
    husband thought about it too long and decided he did not like
    it. Something tells me we will be holding a little boy in our
    arms without a name come July/August. He doesn't even know if
    he likes Wesley anymore. Thanks for your comments.

370.8A yes for CassandraSKIWVA::FSCNOWed Apr 19 1989 19:367
    I too love the name of Cassandra, I know two, one nicknamed Casey
    and one nicknamed Cassie. Also a lady I work with and delivered
    about the same time as me named her son Matthew Westley (her maiden
    name was West) and they call him West. I like it but its more
    important that your husband like it. Good luck!

370.9GIVE ME A W, GIVE ME AN E, SLEY!SHARE::SHEPELUKMon Jul 10 1989 18:1912
    My brother's name is Wesley and I can't tell you how many compliments
    he gets on the name! Girls especially find it attractive. Possibly
    because it is masculine as well as different. I haven't meet any
    other guy with the name to be honest with you - so it is rather
    unique.

    Good luck to you. Sounds as though your husband might be afraid
    to choose something different. It is hard to imagine how people
    will react to a "different" name, especially for boys. Maybe something
    more contempory like :Michael, David, Joseph... (?)
