349.0. "GIRLS E FIRST - J MIDDLE" by SHARE::SHEPELUK () Mon Feb 06 1989 13:17

Any suggestions for a girls first name beginning with an E - Middle
name beginning with a J? Would go with last name Phelan (pronounced
    FAY LIN).

Have Elise Janel in mind or Erica Janel. Trying to save the Erica
for a (2nd girl) though, to go with middle name Gailey (Moms maiden
name) and spelling it possibly Arica Gailey.

Crazy I know, but I want one of my girls to have their Dad's initials,
    which are E.J.P.

    "E" of all letter!!

Elsbeth (English form of Elizabeth) would be a pretty first name.
Sorry, I don't have any suggestions yet for the middle name beginning
    with a J.

My daughters name is Erica Jean. We're expecting our second child
this summer and have begun the quest for names. My wife likes
Brittany and either Philip of Daniel for a boy.

    Still looking though.

Erica Jean is pretty - my Aunt's name is Jean. Hmmmmm... I have
a cousin who named her 3rd girl Brittany Starr... She has two other
daughters also who are named Alison Paige, and Jessica Leigh. When
Brittany came along, my cousin wanted a boy and decided if she had
another girl she would give her a "different name". (she's 5 now).
My cousin had "just" found out she was pregnant the day she and
her husband departed on a cruise. The ship's name was the Brittania
    - that's where BRITTANY came about. Starr is a middle name that
her family uses - her Mom's sister is Muriel Starr who has a daughter
Debra Starr. and Brittany Starr just seemed perfect especially on
the ship Brittania "looking at the evening stars" (how romantic
huh). Well anyway, Brittany is a pretty name and Erica and Brittany
compliment each other (Brittany now is alittle more popular than
5 yrs ago though). Danielle is pretty - you mention you wife likes
Daniel or Philip. Well Danielle is nice for a girl. What about
    Bryan?

p.s. I know the Starr reminds people of the comic strip Brenda Starr,
but what can you do? Debra Starr sounds more like it Brittany Starr
    isn't "that" bad.

    Good Luck.

Im still looking for EJP names for girls. I really DON'T like any
E first names other than Erica. Erma, Evelyn all of those are
terrible! I might have to go for the Erica Jean or Erica Janel and
forget about the Arica Gailey, cuz I haven't heard a nice E name
! Elise isn't "bad", but I just don't like it enough.

Oh well, I have to see ,,, thanks for all you imput. Especially
the guy who listed 692 NAMES FOR GIRLS! That was super! (and I
still didn't see any girls name with an E other the Erica and Elise
that were nice - that's when I KNEW I was in trouble!

    Thanks!

349.10I dont mean to be a spoil sport but .....KAOFS::S_BROOKHere today and here again tomorrowWed Apr 05 1989 15:1313
There is one problem with sharing initials in a family, as I found
    out one day rather dramatically.

Both my mother and I have the initial S.

One day a letter arrived addressed to S. Brook so naturally my mother
opened it. She promptly brought it upstairs and said "This is probably
yours". I proceeded to read some info on certain rubber products.
It turns out a friend was playing a practical joke the trouble was
he had no idea how embarrassing this turned out to be! To say that
I turned a bright shade of pale was an understatement!

I say go with Erica. It's a beautiful name (much nicer than Arica,
which looks like the name of a continent or a prison, in my opinion).
Besides, if and when you have a second girl, you'll probably have
found some new names that you like.

I think I'd go with a simple middle name, maybe Jayne.

Goodness Stuart! I never even thought of the "backfire" on sharing
    initials!

    Thanks for the imput!
