266.0. "3 syllabled name wanted." by HAGGIS::FINLAY () Fri Jul 15 1988 11:21

    Our second child is arriving in 4 - 5 weeks time and we are looking
    for a 3 syllabled first name for him/her. Our surname is Finlay
    and we called our first son Alastair Graham.

    We have written off Alexander, Adrian, Benjamin, Christopher for
    boys and Bernadette, Caroline, Felicity, Catherine and Margarite
    for girls.

    So any idea's as time is running short.

    Many thanks,

    Richard Finlay  --  Inverness Scotland.

How 'bout Emilie?

266.4Erica and othersEDUHCI::WARRENTue Jul 19 1988 14:1239
    Your son's name is so classy; it will be hard to match that with
    another name. How about Erica for a girl? Other girl's names:

    				Jocelyn
    				Evelyn
    				Marilyn
    				Christina
    				Jennifer
    				Jessica
    				Allison
    				Barbara (2/3 syllables?)
    				Mallory
    				Valerie
    				Samantha
    				Theresa
    				Maria
    				Pamela
    				Suzanna
    				Melissa
    				Michaela (mi-KAY-la)
    				Joanna
    				Hilary
    				Meredith
    				Cassandra
    				Geraldine

    Boy's names are more difficult. I only came up with three:

    				Benjamin
    				Zachary
    				Cameron

    Hope that helps.

    Jonathan for a boy, Margaret or Melissa for a girl?

    (I personally dislike the sing-songy sound of having both
     multi-syllable first and last names ending with the "ee" sound.
     Melanie Findley, for example, sounds like a tounge twister to me.
     Obviously, this is strictly a matter of personal preference).

    Time's getting short. Have you picked a name yet? Have any of
    our ideas helped? Have you narrowed it down at all?

266.11Not quite no name FinlayHAGGIS::FINLAYTue Aug 02 1988 18:2119
    Yes your right, time is getting short. My wife Susan has packed
    her case and is all ready to go! We have read all the suggestions
    more than once and still have not decided, but we have narrowed
    the field down and favorite of the moment are:-

    		Benjamin Robert Finlay

    		Jennifer ??? Finlay

    Alastair and I both like Katherine for a girl as there is a series
    of childrens books called Katy Morag and her cousins. She lives
    on the West coast of Scotland and is always in trouble! (in the
    nicest possible way!) but unfortunatly although Katy Morag Finlay
    meets my requirements, Susan has refused point blank to have her
    daughter named after a childrens book.

    I will let you know the outcome.

    Richard.

    I thought you had written off Benjamin! I like it, though.

    What about Katherine Susan Finlay? Then, it can be your secret
    that Katy is really named after a story book character!
266.14Another vote for 'Melissa'EDUHCI::GUINEAUWed Aug 03 1988 14:373
    How about Melissa Jean Finlay?

266.18Benjamine why?HAGGIS::FINLAYThu Aug 04 1988 05:398
    Yes we (correction I) had written off Benjamine but my wife is very
    pursuasive (?)

    p.s. She grows larger by the day.

    cheers,

    Richard.
