251.0. "MALE NAMES BEGINING WITH S" by UBOHUB::ROCK_C (CLAIRE::ROCK) Tue Jun 28 1988 13:24

    Does anyone have any good names for boys begining with "S" besides
    the name STEVE. My surname is Rock and it will have to go with
    that. I think SCOTT is out.......SCOTT ROCK sounds like a disease!!

    Shawn (I like this one the best)
    Sam
    Simon
    Stan
    Sherman
    Sylvester (no way)

    I LIKE SOME OF THE SUGGESTIONS YOU GOT IN THE OTHER REPLIES

    "SHANE" HAS ALREADY BEEN MENTIONED I THINK THIS IS A LOVELY
    NAME MY FRIEND CALLED HER LITTLE BOY SHANE, AND HE IS ADORABLE.
    YOU CAN ALSO SPELL SHAUN LIKE SEAN WHICH IS THE GAELIC FOR JOHN.

    HOW ABOUT SEAMUS PRONOUNCED (SHAYMUS) WHICH IS THE GAELIC FOR JAMES,

    OR JUST SHAY WHICH IS QUITE A COMMON NAME HERE.

    HOPE THESE ARE A HELP

    REGARDS

251.4A rather rare "S" nameHYEND::JRHODESFri Jul 01 1988 12:565
    I think you need a 2 syllable to go with Rock.

    How about Steffan (pronounced with accent on first syllable)?
    I've only ever heard the name once (in a movie- All the Right Moves:
    Tom Cruise was Steffan).
251.5How about Sebastian?ATSE::KASPERKilroy occupied these coordinatesTue Jul 19 1988 14:570

How about Sela?

I am not sure how it is pronounced, but I found it while searching my
family tree. Sela was one of 12 sons of an ancestor of mine.

    My nephew's name is Stefan. I like it and it is different.
    I think there is a baseball player with that name too. I don't know his
    last name.

251.8SpenserINFACT::HILGENBERGWed May 23 1990 17:114
My sister's boy is named Spenser (note different spelling).

I know I've seen women with name Sean and men with name Shawn but I always
thought Sean was masculine spelling and Shawn was feminine spelling.

    Shawn and Sean... I know several guy's who spell thier names either
    way. But have only known one girl who did spell it Shawn. I do
    like the name Shawn.
