246.0. "Zackery, Suzette" by JULIET::HANNAH_SU () Fri Jun 17 1988 01:30

Hello everyone. As like alot of the people writing in, I'm new
to Vaxnotes also. I think it's great. In any case I needed alittle
advice. I like the name Zackery for a boy's name. The only problem
is that a close cousin of mine had first shot at it and that's his
boys name. Would it be wrong of me to use it also? Any opinions
    are welcome and appreciated.

    - Suzette

P.s. Does anyone know what my name means? I'm from Hawaii and
the only time I ever heard my name used before was on French poodles.
    I know I'm not French.

Why not I don't see any problem in him having the same first name.
You could always give him a second name and if at a later date you
    had problems then use that.
I always beleive, to hell with the relatives its your son so you
    call him what you like.
In our area of Scotland its quite common for the first child to be
called after the father and if it turns out to be a girl then the
letters ina are added to the end thus you have Richardina, Peterina
    or Murdoina.
In your case the problem would be resolved if you had a girl then
    you could call it Zackerina.
    Anyway good luck.

Hello to all the babynames noters. I have a name I have been looking
for throughout the notes file and I am somewhat reluctant to submit
it for fear it may become a popular name...

I had a friend in high school whose name was Chylese (rhymes with
Police pronounced Shi (short i) lees). I always thought that it
was so pretty. I'd never heard it before or since and wondered
about its origins. She had a Greek last name -- Pappas.

246.3I agree, just need to hear it.JULIET::HANNAH_SUTue Jun 21 1988 22:4616
    Richard,

Thank you for your response. It is greatly appreciated. I believe
that I will name my first boy Zackery (or is it spelled Zackary).
I really like the name and I have liked it since I was a young girl.
It's not very common and I think that's why I like it so much.
Now all I have to do is pray that I have at least one boy when the
time is right. Unlike my aunt who had 4 girls in a row.

It was very nice hearing from someone so far away. What a great
    way for communication. Thanks again!

    Bye,

    Sue (short for Suzette)
246.4Don't you all go out and take "my" name!PLEXUS::V5REGISTRARThu Jun 23 1988 21:3312
Just a few years ago, I think Zachary would have definitely been
at the bottom of my list, but it seems to have grown on me.

I thought "Zach?" Who could look down at a tiny little baby and
    think "Let's name him Zach!"

I saw a picture of the most beautiful little boy (I think it was
Robin Williams' son) and the name just "fit." Since then, I think
it's a great name. When my godchild was born, I rallyed for that
    name, but he got "Jared."

246.5HOW I GOT MY NAMEGAO::NKINGSat Jun 25 1988 10:4116
THE NAME ZACHERY IS NOT VERY COMMON IN THIS NECK OF THE WOODS,
BUT AS WITH ALL OTHER NAMES, I'M SURE IT WONT BE LONG BEFORE IT
    WILL BE QUITE FAMILIAR.

WE HAVE MUCH THE SAME PROBLEM IN OUR FAMILY WITH NAMES BEING
REPEATED. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS NORA, AND HER ELDEST SON ( my uncle)
CALLED HIS FIRST DAUGHTER NOREEN, ALONG CAME MY HIS SISTER
( my aunt) AND CALLED HER FIRST DAUGHTER NOREEN, THEN I CAME ALONG
AND GUESS WHAT I WAS CALLED ? !!!!!!

A women in our group just gave birth last week to a son and named
him Zachery. I guess the name is a lot more popular than some think.

For the longest time I have liked the name Zach(ary), but
by the time I have a baby, everyone and their brother will
    	be named Zachary!!

Guess I better start name hunting again, eh?

12 years ago, every baby born was named either name Jason or Zachery. I
babysat for some of them. I got so tired of both names I thought I would
screem if I ever saw them again! But I haven't heard Zach since. I guess
everyone got sick of it, too.

I have a nephew named Zachary Jared. He is a doll and a little
sh--. Zachary really hasn't become that popular yet, though.
