243.0. "Taja Leigh" by MERLAN::BOUCHARD (ONE STEP UP AND TWO STEPS BACK) Wed Jun 15 1988 20:09

My wife and I are expecting in late Nov. and are considering
all sorts of names. We want something different, but not outrageous!
I thought of the name TAJA LEIGH if it is a girl. We both liked
it, but other people think it sounds more like a pet name than a
name for a child. Then the Taj Mahal (sp?) jokes started, so we
are considering other options. We seem to be leaning toward Alyssa
this minute, but Nov. is still a long way off!

Any opinions about Taja Leigh or other derivations?

By the way, if it is a boy, the name will be Branden Taylor.

I like Branden Taylor for a boy...good choice.

As far as Taja Leigh is concerned...I like the uniqueness of it
but when you just think about "Taja" it kind of reminds one of
    other things...i.e. pet's name, Taj Mahal,etc.

    Maybe Tanya instead of Taja?

    I do like Alyssa..it's different..and that's a nice way to spell
    it.

    Good Luck...dawn
243.2Taya Elizabeth?PLEXUS::V5REGISTRARFri Jun 17 1988 15:4911
How about "Taya" (Tae-ya, not Tye-ah)? That's the name of a good
friend of mine. I always thought it was simple and pretty.

I like Taja Leigh, too. Just though you'd want to know that there's
a porno actress with a name very similar. My sister told me that.
She's up on these porno "actresses" names, since her name (and it's
not too common, either) is the same as an actress in "the business."
She even has a vague resemblance of the girl. Everywhere she goes,
people see her I.D. and never fail to comment.

I also like Taja. It sounds a little like my aunt's name Nadja -
I'm not sure I have the spelling right but it is a Polish or Russian
    name. I always liked it.

I don't think Taja Leigh sounds like a pet's name, but then my
pets have PEOPLE names anyway - Jimmy, Sadie, Daisy, Jenny, etc.

My daughter's name is Alyssa Marie. My best friend delivered 2
hours after me and named her daughter the same, but with a different
    spelling - Allysa.

Everyone has complimented me on that name. I love it.

Taja isn't as bad as some names are. I went to school with a girl
named Hasanduymaz. (And she was American!!!!)

     TANYA LEIGH DANA LEIGH
     LAURA LEIGH ANNA LEIGH
     TARA LEIGH SARA LEIGH

< Note 243.5 by GAO::NKING >

> TANYA LEIGH DANA LEIGH
> LAURA LEIGH ANNA LEIGH
> TARA LEIGH SARA LEIGH

I wouldn't recomment Sara Leigh (even spelled this way) for obvious
reasons. Then again, "Nobody doesn't like Sara Leigh."
