191.0. "Need help with a middle name" by DECSIM::MACHLIN (Debbie Machlin) Mon Mar 07 1988 19:43

My husband and I are expecting our first child in July. For a girl's name
we've pretty much decided upon Jessica or Jennifer (although it does bother
me a bit to know how common both these names are). We're having trouble
deciding upon a middle name. Our last name is MACHLIN (pronounced like
MACKLIN). I like Jessica Lynn and Jennifer Lynn but I don't think they sound
very good with MACHLIN.

Any ideas would be helpful.

191.1Middle names - what a chore!SALEM::JBROOKSTue Mar 08 1988 10:237
Congratulations! We're expecting our second in August. I like
your choice of names. We're also thinking of Jessica Lynne.

Coming up with a middle name seems to be difficult most of the time.
     I think those sound okay.

    Good luck!

How about Leigh (Lee) or Rae? I agree that the Lynn Mach-lin sounds
    a bit sing-songy.

My husband's niece is Jennifer Leigh. My niece is Jennifer Sue.
My son has two Jennifer's at his day care also, but don't know
what their middle names are. We have to use descriptors when we
talk about them: big Jenn, little Jenn, little red-head Jenn and
Jenn in California! My son does pretty well separating them. Just
wait till he gets to school though - he'll have the same problem
    - lots and lots of Michael's! If you really like the name, what
    the heck!

I have a friend whose daughter's name is Jourdan Inez. Not
quite Jessica or Jennifer, but a pretty "J" name I think.

    Good luck!

191.7We had a girl!!DECSIM::MACHLINDebbie MachlinSun Jul 17 1988 20:029
We had a daughter born on June 28th (almost a week early although my
obstetrician kept telling me he thought I'd be about a week late).

We named her Jennifer Isabelle. The Isabelle is after my grandmother
who was named Isabelle and my husband's grandmother who was named Ida.

Hi

We're expecting our first on September 9th. We've had a boy's name picked
out for months but have been having problems with girls names. I've had
a gut feeling all along that it's going to be a boy so we haven't been
too worried about it but I thought we better pick out a girls name just in
case.

If it's a boy, it's going to be Nicholas Arthur Matsis (Arthur is my FIL's name,
my husband's middle name and my grandfather's name)

If it's a girl, I think we've decided on Thea Matsis (Greek). I don't have
a clue about a middle name. Any suggestions ? We also both really like
Hollis for a first name but I don't think it goes too well with Matsis ---
"is" on the end of both. Another name we both love is Christina but my
SIL's name is Christine and I don't really like the nickname Chris.

Thanks!

Pam............11 weeks to go! =8^)

If it is a middle name, then use Christina. Thea Christina is lovely,
and she won't be going by "Christina" or "Chris". She'll go by "Thea".

191.11Middle name for Erin and ElizabethLANDO::REYNOLDSThu Dec 29 1994 16:0416
    Hi,

I'd like to hear suggestions for a middle name for Erin and Elizabeth.

I wrote in earlier looking for a first name to go with Carolyn. Well,
we've since scrapped that name and are now thinking if it's a girl,
we'll name her Erin or Elizabeth.

I like Erin Christine or Erin Michelle.
And I like Elizabeth Cara or Elizabeth Sarah.

    Any other ideas?

Thanks and thank God I only have 9 weeks to go!

Thanks Patty. I like Erin Danielle. It's similar to Erin Michelle which
my husband and I both like.

I've ruled out R names because of the rrrr sound with Reynolds.

I think girl's names are tough because there are alot of pretty names.

    7 more weeks to decide!
