174.0. "one-syllable girls name" by 32288::MCCARTHY () Wed Jan 06 1988 17:46

We are expecting in June. Though we haven't made a decision, one of the
names we like for a girl is 'Olivia'. The problem is a middle name.
Our last name is McCarthy so I think it should be a one-syllable name.

 So far I've come up with:

	Rose
	Lee
	Anne
	Jean

I don't want to use a nick-name.  Any ideas?

thanks----Maura

    How about Olivia Paige McCarthy.

174.2Paige is nice, but I'd like an Irish name32288::MCCARTHYWed Jan 06 1988 18:144
    Is Paige French? I'd like it to be Irish if possible. By the way
    do you know the origin of Olivia?

    ----thanks mm.

                          <How about Rae?>

    Our daughter's middle name is Rae and I've always liked it. Actually,
    she's named after her uncle who's middle name is Ray. Well, this
    is my very first contribution to the notes file but I thought it
    was a worthy one ...

    re:.3 I really like Rae !! That sounds very nice. thanks

    re:.4 I know Olivia isn't Irish, thats why I'd like an Irish middle
           name.  thanks
174.6Olivia Kate McCarthyMPGS::PELTIERMon Feb 08 1988 18:302
    How about Kate? It is definitely Irish - short for Kathlene
    (?spelling).
174.7FayEDUHCI::WARRENTue Feb 09 1988 10:269
    What about Fay? I've always liked that name. I don't know if it's
    Irish, but the only Fay I know is my cousin, whose last name is
    Ryan. (I do think that whether we like certain names is greatly influenced
    by whether we like the people we've met who have those names...did
    you follow that?)

    How about Olivia Shayne McCarthy?

    (Shane is Irish & one syllable, "Shayne" is a more feminine spelling)

    Lorna

174.9a rose by any other name...CLOVAX::SARANITATue Mar 22 1988 18:389

    I definitely like Rose as a middle name!!! She will get many
    compliments on that name!

    If you change your mind about an Irish first name , how about
    Brianne Rose McCarthy?
