162.0. "Spanish Names" by LAGUNA::RIVERA (RIDICULOUS_YET_SUBLIME) Wed Dec 16 1987 15:02

I am looking for some spanish names other than Juan, Jose or Maria.
Nothing wrong with these names, just a little to common for my tastes
We already have two children, Aleida (a-lay-duh) Marie, and Esteban
(s-tay-bahn) Jose. We are expecting in May, and I would like to
have all my children have spanish names since that is the trend
so far. I don't really know any, except for my husbands family's
names, and we don't really want to name our baby after anyone.

    D. Marie (NOT Maria)

I have a friend who named their first son "Miguel." He is a very
nice looking boy and whenever I've heard the name, I think of him.

Just a bit of information ... when my mother was pregnant with me,
she read a novel (the birthplace of a lot of names) and one of the
characters was "Elena Maria", - I might also mention that my mom
is Japanese and used to spell very poorly (no longer true), anyway,
when I was born, she wanted to name me for the character in her
Romance Novel but she couldn't spell it .... I became Elaine Marie
    instead.

                                            - Elaine

I grew up in S. Cal. and remember this really good looking guy
in high school. His name was Javier. Association means a lot -
I still think the name sounds great because of the particular
    person who owned it!

Well, thank you very much for the compliment (even though it was
not directly addressed to me!). My name is Yolanda, too, and a
lot of people find that name pretty, although I always thought it
was kind of boring. I guess I have begun to like it! My complete
    name is Yolanda Ivette Gonzalez.

Some other Spanish names are: Magaly, Maritza, Widilia, Amarylis,
Madeline, Mirna (or Myrna), Mabel, Adela, Soraida (or Zoraida),
Vanesa, Ivonne, Elsie, Monserrate, Carlina, Leila, Elba, Elvia,
Margarita, Raquel, and Evelyn (I can go on and on....).

For males some names are: Jorge, Francisco, Enrique, Angel, Carlos,
Abel, Alfredo, Ervin, Edgar, Irvin, Victor, Domingo, Alejandro,
Benito, Raul, Eladio, Osvaldo, William, and Ramon.

I LOVE Spanish names. And for a girl, I've always liked the
name Jacintha (I believe it means lavender, or a purple)

But for a boy, I'm not quite sure...
