114.0. "ROTHEL" by NEXUS::R_ADKISSON () Thu Aug 06 1987 18:40

    I think my name is unusual, my father made it up. His name is
    Robert and my mother is Ethel so he took RO from Robert and
    THEL from Ethel and the results is me....Rothel.

    Rothel could be taken as the female version of Roth. I found that
    name in my book. It's old German meaning red hair. Does it fit?

    People are so clever sometimes when thinking up names. I need a
    book to help me, but this conference is really great. There are
    so many names here that aren't in the book and it's got 13,000
    names in it!

    No red hair. I am a brunette. But that was interesting. My family
    is English and Sioux Indian. Thanks, Rothel

    Re .0, I hope nobody has ever teased you and called you Brothel.
     If not, I think you're lucky. I'm very sensitive to names that
    people can derive unfortunate nicknames from since I've been called
    "Lorna Doone" approximately 22 Billion times in my life - each time
    the person acting as though they had thought up the cleverest joke
    in years....*yawn*!

    			<Brothel?>

    No, no one has called me that. My name is pronounced with a long
    o, probably should have been spelled Roethel. I have been called:
    rockabell, ruthdel, and rathel. I thought your note sounded more
    interesting though!
