97.0. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" by 5222::MOREAU () Mon Jul 13 1987 12:22

    I'm new to the "Notes" file so I'm not real familiar with it yet.
    I've been trying to access this file for a while and havent been
    able to until today. Can anyone tell me what has been going on?
    I can tell from the date of the last entry that no one has been
    able to access it. Whats been happening?

97.2Don't complain - it seems to be OK now...REGENT::EPSTEINBruce EpsteinWed Jul 15 1987 11:395
    I seem to remember seeing an appology from the moderator
    about the system being flaky or something; since this file
    was unavailable, he must have posted it in TLE::EASYNET_CONFERENCES.

    Obviously, it's back now.
97.3New system, New Link, New softwareNCMWVX::EDELMANNWed Jul 15 1987 16:5721
Hello everyone,

    I'm not the moderator, but the pseudo system manager of this node.
    The biggest problem with accessing this notes file was probably
    the loss of the notes server. I reinstalled notes, and it seems
    to be functioning normally now. Furthermore, you should see a big
    improvement in access in that our link to the network is via a rigional
    node in Chicago. Our previous access was via Minneapolis, and we
    often had problems with our link which was multiplexed over a switch.

    These changes, including the move from a severely underconfigured
    VAX 780 to a full blown 16MB Q5 uVAX should improve your noting
    greatly.

    Sorry for the inconvenience. I have gotten numerous mail messages
    forwarded from system complaining about access.

    Enjoy!!
