657.0. "FUR - NYSE -7.1% Dividend" by ISLNDS::HUTNICK () Thu Jan 13 1994 13:59
I'm typically a crazy-man when it comes to investment...meaning I want
the quick profit/windfall....but I recently bought some shares in a
company that is just the opposite from my personality.
First Union Real Estate Trust (NYSE - FUR). Price volatility is very
low and it pays a 7.1 % dividend and has the pass 2-3 years.
It's going for about $10.00 and pays a 0.72 dividend (and my newsletter
sources say that they expect an increase in the dividend!!!
Unlike most Real Estate trusts, it has selectively picked up on the
creme of the crop with mid-western minimall and small office park-type
investments at bargain prices. They then go into them, refurb, and
begin renting only after they know they will have a high occupancy
rate. I've got out of all my real estate holdings except this one.
This one is more 'good' management than anything else.
