| No real "investing" information here, but I just went to my dentist a couple
days ago for my six month check-up. He had just purchased a new device that
can "take pictures of" your teeth. He mentioned the name of the manufacturer
of this equipment, but I've forgotten (but I don't think it was Bowmar). The
hardware (at least one piece of it) had Panasonic on it. Anyway, it was
basically a small hand-held wand that acted as a "video camera." The (real-
time) image shows up on a ~13" color screen. Then, when you push a button,
the image freezes on the screen and you can produce a color photograph in
about a minute from the image. This technology would not replace x-ray, but
the dentist told me that it's useful when submitting insurance claims, etc.
He also mentioned that this technology has been available in the past, but the
price has just recently become attractive enough to warrant his (and many of
his colleagues) purchase of the device. He DID say that the stock for this
company enjoyed a pretty good run-up recently but was back down again now.
They did some experimenting on me, and the resulting pictures were excellent
quality.
