263.1A novice NASDAQ question.2327::HUSSAINFri Nov 05 1993 12:052
    Are the prices posted in the NASDAQ listings in newspapers 'offer' or
    'bid'.

    The last trade.

    ......which could be either the bid or the asked. Depends whether the
    last trade was a sale to the specialist from the stock holder, or from
    the specialist to the new stock holder
263.4Thanks. But......2327::HUSSAINMon Nov 08 1993 15:113
    Thanks for all the replies. Now, how do I know if the last transaction
    was a sale by the stockholder to the company, or a purchase by the new
    stockholder from the company.

    Get a quote and make an inference.

    For example, I just checked Microsoft.  Bid 78 1/2, Asked 78 3/4,
    last 78 1/2. Odds are pretty good the last trade was a sale to
    one of the NASDAQ ("license to steal") market-makers in MSFT.

263.9Anyone have an account?SUBSYS::DONADTTue May 06 1997 16:067
    Anyone have a DATEK account? I recently opened an account with them and
    found that I cannot access their secure servers. The problem seems to
    be that our firewall prevents a connection. Has anyone successfully
    gotten around this problem? Since this is kind of a personal web page,
    I really don't want to ask our system people for much help on this.

    Thanks, Karen! Interesting, but my Security Proxy was never set to
    anything. It works fine now.
