165.0. "MET NH Auto" by BRAT::WELLS (Cakes useless if you can't eat it too!) Wed Apr 22 1992 19:34

Just had an interesting conversation with a Metpay rep.
I am in the process of buying a house in NH and will be switching
my auto policy from MAss to NH. About 6 months ago when I started
looking at homes I had Metpay do an estimate of my auto if I moved
to NH and they figured it would save me about $200 on a $1000 policy.
When I talked to them today they're estimate came out to $2100 for
the same policy that cost me $1000 in Mass!!! It seem Metpay now
keeps all drivers points incurred over your LIFETIME and this adds
significantly to your cost. The Metpay rep then admitted that they
were losing significant business because of this charge and other
companies did not do it this way.(yet anyways)

So my question is is anyone else run into this situation? For
me MET is now no longer in the ballpark. Does anyone have any other
NH auto insurance companies phone #'s, especially if they have had
    good experiences with them??

         Any other comments/experiences welcome.

    Thanks
    Tim

165.1I use Maine MutualSTAR::PARKETrue Engineers Combat ObfuscationWed Apr 22 1992 19:518
I have a combined House and Auto insurance with Maine Mutual. It's the lowest
rates I could find three years ago, and has gone DOWN for me. They do not
do car incurance alone, just the combined to get car. Their house
insurance was the first low price I found. Their claim handling is quick
(We have lost two windows in the Van).

If you are moving to the Nashua/Milford area I can give you the name of an
agency which carries them.

Try Amiga, they are excellent and great. I used to deal with
Merrimeck office. Also, they quoted you lowest rate and with
year end profit sharing. My bill was reduced almost 30% from MA
    to NH.

I think you mean "Amica" and not "Amiga".

    Thanks.

Maine Mutual, Amica, State Farm. Any others I should try??

Do most places give a discount for having both home and auto with
    the same company?

Metpay has a 20% DEC discount. Are other companies able to beat this
    rate without the discount??

I do believe so, with a resounding SO in some cases.
