151.0. "database of mutual funds?" by MRCSSE::COLMAN () Thu Apr 09 1992 15:41

Can anyone point me to a database of mutual fund statistics so that I
can do sorts, etc. on that database to determine which funds have the
best recent yields, long-term yields, etc. for the purpose of helping
select a fund into which a lump-sum might be rolled. Naturally, the
least expensive databases would be the most desirable.

    Thanks,

Hi George,

Here are two data bases I'd love to get:

(1) "Mutual Fund Optimizer" sold by CDA Investment Technologies.

(2) "Morningstar Mutual Funds OnDisc" sold by Morningstar.

A 1-year subscription to (1) is $525 for quarterly updates.
A 1-year subscription to (2) is $495 for quarterly updates.

Morningstar (2) can provide monthly updates for 1-year for $795.
Would be nice.

Many libraries have the hard copy Morningstar reports.

    Re: .0

Most magazines (like Money, Forbes, Kiplingers, etc...) review mutual
funds annually and they offer their data (with the tables, etc..) on a
flopy. They are far less expensive than .1 and their sources are often
either Morningstar or IDC or Lipper.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try Money and Forbes.
