344.0. "Thinkpad 760e WNT 4.0 crashes?" by VMSNET::C_MANDERSON () Fri Apr 04 1997 17:39

    Hi,

    Customer installed our DEINA-AA onto an NT 4.0 system. The version of
    wvlan22.sys is v1.09. The system was an IBM Thinkpad 760e on IRQ 11.
    The installation pagefaulted the system. The cure was to reboot with an
    ERD, delete wvlan22.sys. After the system was reconfigured with a
    different IRQ, in this case IRQ 5, all was fine. The same model adapter
    was installed on an alternate same model pc with IRQ 5 with no problems.

    I did not see any crash issues with installing a roamabout adapter.
    Didn't know if this might be an issue with the Thinkpad 760e, customer
    advises IRQ 11 was free and available.

    Customer would like to suggest that if the adapter is NOT installed
    in the system, to not load the wvlan22.sys driver. Apparently, they
    attempted to boot the system without the adapter physically in the
    system in hopes of bypassing the page fault to no avail.

    thanks for listening.

    Wierd huh?

344.1Sounds like a IBM ThinkPad/NT problem.IROCZ::SCHWARTZTue Apr 15 1997 03:248
    Cindy,

    This is a problem with the PC not correctly reporting available IRQs.
    Windows NT does not give you the option to boot without the driver. I
    don't think there is anything that we can do to prevent this.

    Sorry,
